What a character! He will be missed. He would walk down the quad at UA and speak to anyone that spoke to him. He's one the few athletes who played on both a College National Championship team and also won a Super Bowl. Great personality!

Sad. I was raised a Cowboys fan but I loved the Raiders when he & Biletnikoff played.

Colin Cowherd did a great segment talking about watching those afternoon Raider games in the 70's. I am from the same generation-nothing better than listening to velvet voice of Charlie Jones of NBC calling those AFC games in the 70's. He and Summerall were in a class by themselves.

He died as some of his favorite songs played in the background, such as Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Sweet Home Alabama' and Van Morrison's 'Leaves Falling Down,'" the family statement read in part.
That is great.
