Check back in 5 years because no one knows right now. When LaDainian Tomlinson committed to TCU , no one would have said we got the better RB recruit compared with anyone else in the state. The truth is nobody knows until they show up and play.

Right. That goes without saying. Who predicted Cole Beasley other than himself and his mother?

Not to mention the other side of the spectrum - the big name recruits that never play a down.

Has anyone compiled a complete list showing all of our current commits, their positions and vitals (heigh/weight)?

I like the point your are making, but in LT's specific case, that isn't true. Everyone thought he was a very good back, but that there was no chance he would qualify.

nice review of Mikial Onu from Houston Vype's Matt Maletesta George Ranch DB Mikial Onu committed to SMU over the weekend. Onu is a big defensive back, who could grow into a linebacker position at the next level. SMU better hold on because they got a good one who will continue to be recruited up until signing day. “SMU’s coaching staff is full of energy and things are really getting turned about there,†Onu said. “I want to be a part of it. I’m from Dallas and the education is first-class.†http://vype.com/houston/2015/07/01/recr ... ing-board/

Onu visited SMU this weekend to confirm his commitment. He is bigger than I thought https://twitter.com/primetime_db9

Observation:
Not that much of a bombshell, but based on the current list there are only three or four P5 schools below 75 on the list. There are only 3 G5 above 50. SMU, Houston and Boise
Have and have nots play out every year on this list. If we can stay on the top of the G5 recruit list we will get there eventually.

As noted many times, our current 'ranking' is simply the result of us having nearly 2x as many commits as most teams. Houston has 13 which includes 2-4stars, and 4-3 stars. Boise has 12 which includes 1-4 star, and 7-3 stars. Going to have to finish out the class with all 3 stars just to keep up with Houston, USF, UCF & Cincy in our own conference.

Yes, except you are assuming that Cinn, UCF, Houston can finish out with three stars, which is probably mathematically impossible. We'll finish in the top two or three in our conference,, which should be near 50 June was well below that typically. Plus there is the whole p5 offer thing which is a big improvement

Huh? Our class is almost done. If they keep the same proportion of 3 stars throughout their classes, we'll end up 4th or 5th in our own conference. USF only has 10 commits, but 6-3 stars already. UCF only has 5 commits, but 3-3 stars to start. Likely both those schools end up with half their classes 3 stars. The whole p5/other offer argument is a wash when compared to all the other teams. Just a quick glance at the offer lists of other 2 star guys from Houston/Cincy/USF/UCF and they're very similar to the SMU 2 stars. Yes, SMU is doing great for SMU, but we may very well end up middle of the pack in our own conference. Again, let's see how it plays out thru signing day, but all of this 'top g5' recruiting class talk is nothing but hyperbole and apples vs. oranges at this point.
