I would like to drop Tech and go with any of the following schools as a home game:
Duke
Wake Forest
Syracuse
Cincinatti
Temple
Kent State
Buffalo
UNLV
San Jose State
Utah State
Idaho
New Mexico State
Also, if we could find a way to play TCU I would like to do that as well or maybe Baylor again.

are you kidding? I'd rather get thumped by Tech than ever see Buffalo or Idaho at Ford. The key to the non-conference schedule is balance, not just having winnable games. You want to road trip to Buffalo on the return trip?

Geee....Buffalo or Lubbock. Tough choice. Since it would be in September and there would be no snow, I might go with Buffalo.

If you're talking about next year, there is no possible way that that will happen. Especially considering we're starting another contract in 07 that goes all the way to 2011 if I remember.
I really would like to begin playing Baylor every year if we could..and if they continue to improve. I always seem to enjoy them..especially considering that we can win it every year.

Buffalo - Niagara Falls, Casinos, and it is a nice place to visit early in September.
Lubbock - well, Lubbock has the feed lots, the ungodly smell that goes with them, the Ugliest Campus in America(category now retired due to total domination by Tech), and I just don't know what. Can someone tell me why I want to go to Lubbock again?
UNLV - A little trip to the Belagio and a little football would not be too bad.
Duke - Nice place to visit and we aren't playing basketball.
Wake Forest - Ditto
Syracuse - We replace Tech and we can go to the NY State Fair.
Cincinnati - Casinos in Indiana and we can take Rusty back to the old Offensive Coordinators home that he escaped from.
Temple - The City of Brotherly Shove and Cheese steaks.
Kent State - I hear .$25 wing night at the Ground Round rocks!
San Jose State - The Bay Area - Napa, Half Moon Bay, and San Fran. Just avoid San Jose.
Utah State - Logan, where September is Polygamy Month. Who couldn't use an extra wife or 3.
Idaho - Moscow. It sounds far away and it is. Maybe we should pass on this one unless someone is up for jumping the Snake River in a Camaro.
New Mexico State - Nothing like getting a little early season revenge against the Aggies.

I second the motion about Baylor - there is no reason why Baylor shouldn't be our first choice for a Big XII game every year. They are a team we have a chance against from year to year, they bring lots of fans, SMU fans like it, and nothing beats capitalizing on the old Methodist / Baptist rivalry...

Revenge for what?
I still think we should've played Miss. State last year, this year and the next. In fact, our ooc sched. should include:
TCU-traditional rival
Miss. State or another SEC weak sister
Baylor
Indiana or Illinois, until Illinois gets better
Do this, win the games, slide Calvin a few more Benjamins & have him write up about the resurgent SMU team who has "ran roughshod over, around and through a brutal schedule comprised of always-powerful TCU, plus teams from the BigXII, Big Ten and the SEC." Run that sentence in every write-up every week, and submit it to the AP. Sooner or later they'll run it.

It was a play on the fact that New Mexico State is the only other D1 school that goes by the Aggies nickname besides the school that is located near the greater Bryan metro area. Oklahoma A&M used to go by the Aggie name but when they changed to Oklahoma State in 1957 they became the Cowboys. They are only referred to as Aggies by OU graduates and others who like to pick on the intelligence of OSU graduates.
Now that we have the history of the Aggies nickname, next week we will delve into why TCU is the Horned Frogs and not the Horned Toads.

BrianTin:
I think Utah St. has some Aggies as well...althought they're sometimes relabeled the Utags.
But while we're at it, why limit ourselves to D1 Aggies? While I definitely think SMU should stay away from the D1-AA UC Davis Aggies, Panhandle State (Okla) would make excellent fodder.
I actually spent most of my HS years in New Mexico. One year UNM went to the NIT and was matched up w/ Texas A&M. The ABQ sportscaster opened his report with, "the Aggies...the real ones....are comin' to The Pit."

Wow-
