2015 season predictionsO.K. it is August...time to make those predictions. I think this year's team could go anywhere from 2-10 to the 6-6 the optimists are claiming. My gut tells me no better than 4-8 but my heart says that if these guys can at least be competitive against Baylor and TCU and then beat UNT and JMU, that a 4-4 AAC season is possible. Until I see a dramatically improved product on the field, I'm going with 4-8 figuring we will beat UNT, JMU and win 2 home games in AAC play. Hope I'm wrong and this bunch can earn a bowl game and those invaluable extra practices to prepare for 2016.
Re: 2015 season predictionsWins vs UNT, JMU, Tulane, Tulsa, USF. Rest of losses in the AAC are between 3-7 point heartbreakers. TCU and Baylor losses are by 3-4 TDs. I think we have a shot at beating Temple and/or ECU if the team can come out strong and finish.
Games I have doubts on are... Navy's option game: up to the defense...if Van Malone can get these guys to defend that option, and show discipline against them, we may have a shot at winning and having played a gainst a tough to defend team like that will set us up for the rest of the year. Score will be in the low 20s for each team and I can see it being a 3pt win or loss. Memphis: I think Memphis is overrated and deserves to always lose to SMU, but they had a great 2014. I hope it's a fluke and we beat them. 5-7 with a chance to win more.
Re: 2015 season predictionsOh crap Charleston you posted this in recruiting lol this goes in football!

Re: 2015 season predictionsI like how everyone is assuming UNT is a win. I hope it is but I dont put them in the auto win collumn until next year
Re: 2015 season predictionsExpecting 4.
2015 season predictions4-5 wins with zero games where we don't score at least 10 points.

Re: 2015 season predictionsI thought 3-7 last year before the season, then expected 0-12 after watching the first 3.
I think we get 4-6 wins this year, with lots of good signs and promise for the future. I don't know if we pull off any upsets, but I bet we give a few teams a scare by hanging around later than they thought. I KNOW our guys will give it all they've got and will play hard, which is far more than we saw last season. If that translates to a low-end bowl I'll be ecstatic....if it means 4 wins I can live with that as well. I'll go with 5-7 and a narrow miss on the bowl game. I think it's 8+ wins the next year.
Re: 2015 season predictions
another senior moment
Re: 2015 season predictionsI just REALLY want SMU football to exceed my expectations...for once. The last time that happened was back when we slaughtered Vanderbilt in the season opener by something like 44-7. Of course, that team went on to finish 1-10 or something like that, so I can't really count that game. I want that "miracle" season that would mean Chad coming in here and talking a 1-11 team to an 8-4 finish and winning a bowl game against a quality opponent. Still waiting for that moment in the post death penalty era.
Re: 2015 season predictionsPonies will win 7 games in 2015. Remember the prediction. #PonyUpTempo
