That was the most enjoyable season since the death penalty, but I don't consider a season where we won a bunch of squeakers against so-so competition but also lost by 25 to TCU and by 23 to Houston a "miracle season". I will admit that Hawaii Bowl against Nevada was very satisfying, but I sure hope that's not as good as it's going to get for SMU football. I enjoyed the road win against a good TCU team the following year a much greater accomplishment. It's just too bad we finished that season so poorly. I will always believe JJ's disappointment with our not selling out the UCF game was when he quit on SMU.

I predict that if we get 3-4 wins, myself and several others will get all types of hate rained down on us on how bad the past recruiting classes were.

I also predict that if we get 6 wins or more, it will be claimed as all a result of the freshmen and transfers, and we will still get firebombed and accused of being best friends with the former coaching staff. Even though that type of result would be an indication that the past recruits weren't quite the dumpster fire everyone claims.

I predict 6-6 and a bowl.

Matt Davis starts the entire season and is the team MVP. Castillo, Kevin Thomas, both frosh RBs see quite a bit of PT, although Line is still the starting RB. Sutton and Gaines blow up, but Sutton doesn't quite have the season people expect because he isn't lining up against a walkon corner who will never see the field for SMU much less any other opponent like he was this spring. OL is Weeks-Brown-Barns-Lasecki-Briggs. Halfway through the season Wilds replaces Weeks. Rodney Clemons starts at S at some point this year. Gentry and Lawler show promise on the D line. Shaq and a frosh are successful at the Star position. Horace, Montes, Montgomery, and Jeanlys are surprisingly decent at corner until injuries expose depth beyond that. The OL struggles early and keeps the team from doing better than 6-6. UNT, ECU, James Madison, USF, Tulsa, Temple, Navy, Tulane are not very good teams and we manage to win 6 of those games, especially because most are at home.

I understand that the coaches have asked to temper expectations this year. You seem to be raising them at least for yourself. But I do have to admit that HCCM's acquistion of Deon Green could change a lot of things. No predictions here just looking for improvement from week to week. Just curious as to how you known that ECU and Temple are not very good teams? Temple was bowl eligible last year.

I'm hoping that the attitude of the team is much improved. That should make some difference as well. However, much improvement will be needed to even have a respectable season.

I tend to agree with that.

2-10. Seniority-adjusted talent level is worse than last year (and that's saying something), but energy/emotion is important in football, and they should have much more of that. I'll be ecstatic if they win more than 3 games.

I expect to see full grown men putting a beat down on kids in headlights. This will gradually improve as Chad gets his men on the field.

while 5-7 might be more in line with reality, I'm feeling a 6-6 and a bowl game. I know I'm excited for the season

2-10.

We lost to UNT last year by ~40 points, yet everyone on here has that down as a win. While our crop of freshman is better than the seniors they replace, they are still freshman and will struggle.

I still think we will be much improved relative to last year but we were not competitive in most games. So improvement may just mean losing by 1-2 TDs
