Why does anyone think Green starts right away? Just because he's from SC/SEC? We have had transfers from big programs before who didn't do much. I hope that's not the case with him, of course, but we don't know what we have. Besides, aren't the coaches pretty excited about Gentry and Minor and Wood? Sure would be nice to have some studs in the middle of that d-line.

Watch five minutes of game film from 2014 and it becomes entirely reasonable to think that anyone from the SEC could walk in here and start at almost any position.

We have also had transfers from big schools to do very good like Shawnbrey and GG. The coaches might be excited about Gentry, Minor and Wood but I understand they are also excited about Green. While you don't know what we have I think Coach Morris does because he had to play against him. Plus this is not your friend June Jones that has recruited this player but someone who knows what he is doing. I think he will get an opportunity to start. Also, weren't you the same person in LB's first year that said the team did not need a point guard because it had Nick Russell. I believe you were proven very wrong about that.

Green's HS highlights are certainly impressive. Not sure we've had a DT in a long time swallow running backs like this guy did in HS. He was in the same class as Clowney along with 4 other d lineman. Had more offers than I care to count including one from Auburn during their national championship run. A healthy Green at the very least will add much needed depth.

I like his highlights and think he will added needed depth maybe start but there is no attempt to even block him on half of those plays.

Auburn runs a similar offense. If the second string QB from Auburn, who is pretty good, came here he would probably start. I think Davis could be challenged this year if things don't go very well.

Yeah...its not like he was amazing last year. I watched plenty of times last year as he ran around in the backfield and got sacked. Granted, that's not entirely on him, but I wouldn't anoint him yet either.

If Matt Davis comes in as unprepared to play his position as he did last year then he will be sitting on his [deleted] by Game 4. Its ridiculous to blame the Offensive Line entirely for what happened last year. He didn't understand when, where or who to throw the ball to last year. I would grade his performance last year as a D+ and the only positive was his athletic ability not his QB IQ. His QB IQ last year was one of the worst I've seen from an SMU QB and he wasn't a mere freshman either. This is his 4th year at the College level

His high school was in the highest classification in the state and their county district has produced a couple of state champions so it's not like he's playing against poor competition. I counted maybe two whiffs but there were several chop blocks he powers through, a couple of plays where he's on the back side of a run and has the athleticism to make people look bad, which is impressive given his size at 290 lbs in HS... he also uses his hands/arms fairly well which you don't always see in HS. Not saying he will produce at SMU but I think the potential is there if healthy. We would all be pretty excited if he was signing in the 2016 class.

No qb's looked good running the run n shoot here though. Gilbert shined when JJ got out of the way. Gotta think a lot of Davis' lack of readiness has to be laid at the feet of JJ

Exactly, had little to do with 'preparation', and everything to do with crap offense and terrible receiver and O-line play. All the QB's were bad so I guess they were all unprepared? Davis should be sufficient to get us through the season, while Moore will be the perfect QB of the future.

10 times this week, Morris said we will be a 2 back, run first team and take our shots down the field. Good news is that should take a lot of the pressure off the QB. Can this O-line execute this O better than the old O? Can Davis consistently deliver that deep ball?

No matter what, it's something new, better, and different to look forward to.
