Re: Over 50% of the SMU football commits have P5 offers
Why, so you can maintain the illusion that all of the world's problems are due to June Sheldon Jones?

Certainly not all the world's problems, but virtually every problem related to our football program is directly b/c of June Jones. The totally talent-depleted roster, non-existent relationships with Texas high school coaches/recruits, physically and mentally weak condition of players (i.e. lack of real strength program), and coming off what was statistically one of the worst seasons in college football history are all on him.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Truly a case of a coach not earning what he was being paid.

Talent depletion, yes. Relationships with Texas high school football coaches? Fixed in two months. Couldn't have been that bad. Bad season, yes. But everyone always conveniently forgets the three bowl wins in the five years before that. June Jones brought them to us. They are his and therefore they are ours. And he improved our conference affliation. And he's a good reason Larry Brown came here. Other than that, he caused the Black Plague and AIDS.

There were articles written on how bad the HS coaches relationships were with SMU. High School coaches were even calling SMU out. Coach Morris even said that some relationships with those coaches may never be repaired. I know you like redacting thing but June was not the reason LB came to SMU. He just encouraged him to hang in there after they initially did not hire him. As far as conference affiliation is concerned we would have been in the Big East anyway because of the almost collapse of the conference. Remember, that's how Tulane and ECU got in the AAC.

Re: Over 50% of the SMU football commits have P5 offers
I'm sure this has been hashed out b4, but, in fairness to facts, the timing of our Big East offer was before it imploded (catholic 7 still in tact) which likely influenced Larry's interest in our university significantly since it would have been with out question a bcs caliber basketball conference at that point. Agree we would have gotten in when Tulane and others came on board anyway but the timing of our inclusion helped with Larry. I think we have to admit June helped elevate us slightly over Tulsa, Tulane and ECU which impacted the timing of our invitation. Up to the point of June's arrival all of those schools were better than us in football on varying levels. He left us in a Stage IV dumpster fire on many levels but there were some positives between 08-12.

The 'dumpster fire" was last year only. What unbelievably selective memories here

The dumpster fire was seen coming a mile away as pointed out by many because it did not just start with one recruiting class but many. And if it were nor for GG the dumpster fire would have be going in full before that. The question is how many years will it take to get out of this mess. Let's hope only a couple of HCCM's classes but no one can be certain.

IIRC, June was never able to recruit/retain a QB that fit his brain type and stayed here for more than 3 years.

Re: Over 50% of the SMU football commits have P5 offers
June Jones' offenses at SMU were downright pathetic. If you take away GG's spectacular individual numbers his senior year, we were never a consistent offense ESPECIALLY when you consider the numbers Jones' teams put up at Hawaii. Zach Line and Garrett Gilbert were able to mask the overall dreadful offensive performance of the Jones era at SMU. Also, Tom Mason's defenses were instrumental in getting us to bowl eligibility.
By virtually every statistical metric SMU was a below average offensive team under June Jones and a dramatically poor passing offense under Jones minus the one phenomenal Gilbert year. Combine that with abysmal recruiting and a total give up in the last few years and you get the dumpster fire.
No selective memory here.

Except that we went to bowl games and won. Look, we weren't world beaters under June Jones. But you cannot deny the simple fact that his time here was all in all a success. It's ok to admit that. Here's hoping that Chad Morris takes us 10 times as far

"All in all a success." In relation to what? Complete apathy towards recruiting? Burned bridges with many TX high school football coaches and programs? A horrible record against teams that ended their seasons with winning records? Leaving us with statistically one of the worst SMU seasons ever?

A success compared to the previous 4 coaches, who didn't muster nearly as many wins, win percentage, nor any bowl games/bowl wins. He had to go because of his lack of recruiting and outdated offense which did leave us short-handed and last year's disasterous season.
Here's to HCCM and our Team having more wins, bowl games/wins and top 25 rankings over the next several years.

Re: Over 50% of the SMU football commits have P5 offers
Title needs to be corrected. Over 60% maybe even over 65% of the class has P5 offers.
