Petersen just got his new gig. He's not gonna screw it up to pacify Art Bliss.

Exactly. Now it's a he said/she said. Only Peterson and Briles know exactly what was said, and both have probably been told to shut it down. Baylor in a really bad spot now, but would they actually fire Briles? Won't believe it till it happens.
Hopefully this pushes all universities closer to instituting a zero tolerance policy for any of these guys with this type of history. Second chance, I don't think so. SMU was lucky 2 years ago when June quietly removed one of our own in the dead of night with no explanation.
Blanket Zero Tolerance policies are a mistake. Criminal cases are complicated and blanket bans are for people too lazy/weak to make decisions.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Texas Monthly article on Baylor
A zero tolerance policy should be implemented until the person is found guilty because he is innocent until proven guilty. People might be suspended when and allegation is made but they do not need to be kicked off the team until they are found guilty. A lot of people want players to get kicked off the team and sent to hell before they eleven go to trial and get a verdict. And Peterson so non specific in his statement that he may not have discussed the sexual assault issue with Briles. Baylor released a statement of the document that Boise sent them and it does not say anything about a sexual assault issue. So in a sense both could be telling the truth.

How do you know Peterson is not make that broad statement to protect himself because he may not have told Briles about it? The statement sounds as if he is talking about the document that Boise sent Baylor. Did you read the document that Boise sent Baylor or are you speaking out of ignorance Corcso?

In today's world, better safe than sorry. Baylor had many layers of 'decisions' here and look where they now find themselves.
Briles now saying about Peterson..."he did not disclose that there had been violence toward women, but he did tell me of a rocky relationship with his girlfriend which contributed to his depression." Briles now sounds like Hillary, he may be technically correct, but he had the chance to walk away at that point because he knew exactly what this kid was about.
Plenty of other DE's out there without taking these type of risks.
Re: Texas Monthly article on Baylor
Rocky relation ship with girlfriend does not necessarily mean sexual assault. It could mean should broke up with him, something else that lead to his depression. I would not make assumptions that he knew exactly what was going on.

Of course it doesn't! Just one of many warning signs with this kid. My point is simply that any of these kids with ANY of this type of history are not worth the trouble.
Briles stuck his neck out and this time it has come back to bite him, and deservedly so. Hopefully lesson learned and he avoids this type of kid in the future and starts a trend.

.....and who cares about the 'clean' transfer document. The kid had violence against women allegations against him at Boise.

That document means a lot if that is what Baylor had to go on.

Yep, that document is 'technically' what will save Briles *ss. He and the school saw only what they wanted to see with this kid. The rest of his history they willingly chose to ignore.

That is an accusation based on assumption.

Yep, based on common sense.
Briles remains coach and this whole thing is forgotten once the season kicks off. Only positive is this idiot goes to jail and never steps foot on another college campus.

Re: Texas Monthly article on Baylor
It is not based on common sense but it could be based on a bias against Baylor.
