Re: Scrimmage InterviewsI take it that Shaw is playing star and hasn't been moved back to safety... it also sounds like Rhone is still at MLB calling plays...
Re: Scrimmage InterviewsWho said that Shak had been moved safety? But anyway glad he said that is is playing the 5th DB in the 4--2-5 defense which is the star. I think he will do well there.

Re: Scrimmage InterviewsShakiel Randolph played Star LB only. He even said he kind of missed playing in the secondary, but there's no reason to believe.

Re: Scrimmage InterviewsHe said he moved to the 5th DB 4-2-5 in the video which is the star. You asked him if he missed playing DB. He politely went along with your statement. The star I'd a hybrid position not a linebacker only. It is a hybrid DB/linebacker position. Depending on the type of team we play will determine if he is more in the secondary or closer to the line. In your questioning sometimes you tell people what they do instead of asking them if that is what they do or if things have changed.

Re: Scrimmage Interviews
Yes, once again critical of someone running a free website trying to provide as much info as possible to the masses... say hi to billy for me. I agree with what you are saying about that Star position being a hybrid, but when you talk to the coaches and players, they don't consider that position part of the secondary... Visually, when watching the team play, it is harder to distinguish the star from the LBs than it is to distinguish the star from the corners and safeties. I think in the two deep that the DMN was projecting, Shaq was at safety and Rhone at star. It surprised me and it sounded like in this interview, Shaq was indeed still at Star and Rhone still at MLB. So it confirms no move has taken place.
Re: Scrimmage InterviewsKind of splitting hairs, but you're right, I guess. The Star position has a little DB in it in certain packages, but the coaches refer to it as the Star LB position, so I did, too.

Re: Scrimmage Interviews
That is because the defense is playing against the SMU offense which is a power run game. When we play against East Carolina the star will play some like a nickel in the secondary. That is where the versatility of the star comes in somewhat like TCU's rover. Last year TCU's rover against the run and shot was most in the secondary but this year against SMU new power run game the rover will be closer to the line just like the SMU star. That is why the 4-2-5 is so effective because it is versatile. #HammerDown
Re: Scrimmage Interviewsevery player we have recruited for the Star position for 2015 and 2016 is more DB than LB-SMU is just trying to fit round pieces into square pegs right now to fill depth. The Star is more accurately described as a hybrid safety position. I said to myself when Rhone came in at 234? that he was likely to play inside at that weight
