The sheer excitement of a full house!Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: The sheer excitement of a full house! There will come a day when our fans take up most of the seats if CM does his thing.
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house! The standard estimates typically seen on here for the A&M/Baylor/Tech/TCU games highly underrate the amount of SMU fans.
Shake It Off Moody
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house!
I live for that moment in sports time
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house!
Sadly, I watched part of the SMU-A&M game from 1982 on Youtube the other night. Verne Lundquist (skinny at the time) was the play-by-play guy and lamented that we were having attendance problems despite being 7-0 and ranked Number 5 or 6 in the country. We had just beaten UT at their place. Our biggest home crowd of the year, despite Dickerson and James starring in their Senior year, had been 31K vs. TCU. That crowd wouldn't have filled Ford. I was at that Aggie game (Homecoming) in person and I doubt that the actual paid attendance was more than 35K. A majority of them Aggies of course.
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house!Unfortunately, Topper is accurate - lack of attendance has been a cultural issue for decades.
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house! How many years of success had the pony express been through? 79-82 or just 4 years of being really good?
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house! In the late 60's when Mrydel and others on this board were roaming the campus, we had some very good teams - still an apathetic fan base
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house!Focus on the product on the field not the attendance. Except for games against big opponents Ford will never be full, we just don't draw the crowds.

Watch the entrance at a Clemson game Peruna is my mascot!
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house! If the Pony Express had played at Ford I bet the place would have been packed because a campus venue is hard to beat if the product is good. We have not had a great team play on campus in ages so it is an unknown.
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house!
Exactly. Which is why P5 a pipe dream. Ceiling is AAC championships.
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house!I am not sure about that. We do not have enough students to fill 2 sections at Ford and the average Dallasite does not know where to park and is not familiar with the area. When we played at Texas Stadium, everyone knew where it was and parking was right there. I love the campus stadium, but I really believe it hurts with the Dallas average Joe. Being a small stadium is a plus.

For all the creative vitriol aimed at others, I find you a pitiable man. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: The sheer excitement of a full house!
Amen! AAC championship would be cool. Should be able to compete for 1 or 2 before Morris leaves. If we can keep up with Houston recruiting.
