No - they never laid down. Sometimes the punter would hit a -10 yard punt, but they tried hard.

Rossley and Morris do have something in common. The team will be prepared and the team will fight.

The -10 yard punt was in 94 - Anthony Scotti's freshman year. That was not a close game either. Humble made his debut in the 4th quarter. The week before we should have beaten UNC and then we go down to Waco and get trounced.

Mack Brown was a hot head after that UNC game. Said he would never bring a team back to SMU. Went off on having to walk across a street from the locker room to the stadium. Said it was hard for is team to get up for a bush league game and that is why it was close. What an [deleted].

Did Scottie's punt result in a safety? I can't recall - the legend just grows year by year...it was crazy windy that day.

I was more embarrassed for SMU than Mack Brown* (although I think the only game Mack coached at Ownby was when he was at North Carolina) was mad at the playing conditions at Ownby. I'm sure that forcing schools to play at Ownby played at least some role in the decisions of the Arkansas, UT and A&M to want to get the hell away from SMU, TCU and Rice. It was nice-it was cute to play in Ownby. It was a slap in the face to our conference mates. Why should those schools let us ride their coattails when our administration had no appreciation of the value of SWC membership. I would never have played a game at Ownby unless there were immediate plans for a new facility and it was recognized as only temporary. SMU under Ken Pye was Bush League in every sense. Playing at Ownby BRANDED the program as minor league from Day 1-it was a huge mistake among many

* David McWilliams was UT Head Coach in 1989 and 1991

in 1993 when Makovic was coach we moved our conference home game to the Alamodome (Bush League) and then played UT for the final time at home in Cotton Bowl
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
