SMU will shake up the worldEnough of this death-penalty nonsense. Is Baylor unbeatable? Just ask UCF who beat them 52-24 in the 2014 Fiesta Bowl. Or West Virginia, who finished with six losses last year, who beat them 41-27.
Is their defence that great? It looked pretty ordinary in surrendering 58 points to TCU last season. Baylor will be so over-confident after last year's beatdown that they will turn the ball over three times and allow SMU to score a touchdown on special teams. Baylor's new quarterback will have first-game jitters and will miss a couple of wide-open receivers which should have been easy touchdowns. Matt Davis will play like the four-star recruit he once was and the speed of SMU's wide receivers will catch Baylor off guard. Final Score: SMU 24, Baylor 21. Kindly tone down the hate mail.
Re: SMU will shake up the worldIf SMU wins (which I can wish for while realizing it's not going to happen) it won't be 24-21. The only way I see SMU winning this game is 55-52 or something like that. I just can't imagine the Baylor offense being held to 21...
but I like the way you think. Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

Re: SMU will shake up the worldOh what the hell, a little unrealistic optimism works for the first game of the year. In a lot of ways this is the perfect game to start things off because SMU has nothing to lose. Get blown out and it's expected; play it tight and suddenly there's a hint of respect; win it and the whole college football world spontaneously combusts. The guys get to play balls to the wall from beginning to end and forget about the scoreboard. That's fun to watch, and who the heck knows anything can happen on any given Friday. I'm going into this year with very modest expectations, but a brief moment of completely unwarranted belief in the upset ain't a bad way to pass a few minutes on a Thursday.

GO MUSTANGS!!!!
Re: SMU will shake up the worldWell I'm pretty sure UCF had an NFL quarterback but whatever. Donnie is right we're going to win this game and shock the universe
Re: SMU will shake up the worldWell, I will say there's a reason you play the game. I CAN see this game being closer than people think, but a win at this point is difficult to predict.

Re: SMU will shake up the worldI certainly agree with the "we have nothing to lose" part. So no one on our team should feel any pressure whatsoever in this one. I would like us to have a good showing (prime time espn game) and no major injuries.

Re: SMU will shake up the worldWhy not ... got to have optimism in this world. It does not suggest you are out of touch with things, nor void of reality for the challenge. Nothing great was ever accomplished without it. We can all give examples where the underdog prevailed ... even big UD's. First step in changing the mindset and culture, is optimism that breeds confidence .... and for more then one game. Not asking for a moral victory, but if these guys compete and get after it for 4 qtrs .... HUGE.
Re: SMU will shake up the worldPray for all the miracles you'd like......not happening in this game.
