The Horned Frogs have a Heisman candidate at quarterback and a shiny no. 2 preseason ranking, but the main attraction in Fort Worth remains the innovative 4-2-5 defense that’s proven uniquely capable of slowing the no-huddle and spread

Check out the article and the diagrams.

Guess he missed the Baylor game last year? Patterson admitted his defense could not stop them.

See the part of the article that begins with...
Patterson’s defenses have made short work of essentially every offense they’ve faced over the past decade or so, with one glaring exception: in-state rival Baylor, now a conference foe.

The Big 12 has a glaring problem that needs to be addressed. The officiating is terribly inconsistent. TCU lost to BU on non calls and poor pass interference calls that helped BU. But then the next week BU got the same dose of medicine against West Virginia. The officials are to blame for the Big 12 not having a team in the playoffs, not the lack of a conference champion. It seems to be the same couple of crews. Even the game play by play guys watching replays are stumped but you can tell they are not to criticize officiating

That's what happens when each team chucks up 20+ bombs/jump balls. Tough judgement calls for any refs.

Big 12 leadership and coaches are to blame for being left out, not officiating.
