Of all the things we have to complain about - student attendance is not really on the list.
BU is typically around 8k. Dips to low 6's rarely but spikes over 10k when it's really big. We do a good job with students and much better than we used to.

exactly. 8k is about 50% of your total student body. 50% of our student body is 3500 - which is about what we had out there tonight, with no success and a student body which is 60 % out of state and doesn't really care that much about football.
I am proud of our students. We need to get Dallas dialed in to what is about to happen in Ford - our students are fine.

Yeah....probably 1,500 students over there max. Love that they showed up. They saw a good show. Put down that can of butt-hurt and realize that we should have 1/2 of our student body (aka, more than 1.5K) at these games in a year or two fighting with the other half to get the student tickets because of our program.
Maybe I'm just pissed that I made it to the Cotton Bowl to watch a bag of smashed [deleted] with about as many students back in the dark ages of the 90's.
Just put in your dusty tape of Field of Dreams and loop the scene over and over...if you build it, they will come. HCCM and his cadre of coaches are building the program. I just want to see the student body embrace it fully. So I guess I'm a [deleted] for that...oh well. Maybe I'm crazy.

The depressing thing to me is when I am walking to Ford from the Blvd I have to fight through people going the other way.

If they keep it up in later months it will be good. Typically attendance spikes early in Sept and declines for most schools as the weeks go by.

half of 32,000 is 16,000-there are approximately 26 sections in half the stadium. SMU filled 4 sections. So that is about 625 per section x 4 =2,500

3,000 SMU fans in that game? Go fly a kite that is a load of crap we easily brought more than 60% of attendance and it was packed.

Oh ok. Students looked great...still there after half time. If you have an exciting football team that can win games or look good losing they will come. SMU is headed the right way.

if you are counting undergraduates Baylor has had undergraduate enrollment of about 13,000 maybe 14,000 today. Back in 2013 they had 10,500 student tickets picked up for Oklahoma and 10,000 more for UT. That's way higher than 50% more like 75-80%

I've got a junior daughter at BU and while the tickets are a hot commodity to get/print, they are as bad as SMU students typically are at staying through the games. Tonight was the first time she has stayed for an entire game and that was only because I wouldn't leave until the final whistle and she didn't want to walk home. I personally have no problem with the students tonight - the decision to move them to the open end of the stadium however....

yeah - like i said our students are not the problem. 50% is way higher than most and higher than Baylor on all but their biggest games.
