I honestly don't get the complaints about the Mini Mustangs. They go on the field for 1 minute in the first quarter, when we would otherwise have some other lame presentation anyway, have fun and then go. They are how the Pom Squad (which is also not well funded) raise money for those spiffy outfits and red boots all the dirty old men are ogling. They get people who would not have bought tickets into the stadium, and get kids connected to SMU at a young age.

I agree DiamondM. I don't get the hate. It adds fans, raises money, and gets young kids interested in SMU. So we're disrupting yet another long quiet and awkward pause in between time outs. So?

I personally have FAR more issues with all the damn info-mercials at the basketball games.

They'll be back next week. So suck it!

Was not giving opinion, just pointing out that I had not seen the usual vitriol they seem to inspire.

In that case I am totally ok with it. Those boots rocks.

The $ saved on not having to pay for a football coach should be pumped into pom cheer and band. For all its high browedness, smu can sure be prolific at freeloading

Please provide numbers on Mini Mustangs > SMU student conversion-rate.

It's basically game day daycare for 30 families but it just looks so bush league to the rest of the 15,000 in the stadium. IMO there are better ways to get young girls ready for higher levels of cheer or in-still SMU spirit than that participate in that ill-prepared mess.

It makes little kids happy. That's the only argument I need to hear.

That is a valid request imo.

We need to involve as many people as possible from the SMU community. Nothing wrong with the mini-Mustangs and probably adds to the attendance.

Mini-Mustangs get more people into the stadium and from the community connected with the school, AND it gives us something to complain about every week. Win-win
