From what I saw it was 3000 not 5000.

pretty simple; it's because we don't have demand yet for those seats from SMU fans. Looking forward to the day we can limit our visitors but right now, we will send as many as they think they can sell. Looking forward to a good crowd Saturday. Hopefully 25k plus for this one

Exactly. nobody is going to get bandwaggoning on us until we get to a real bowl, which we never did under Junes tenure. I go to everything, but other than the 1500 you cant expect people to take the punishment for years. TCU starts sucking wind and you will see them flail around also.

Check back in three years. Different story on the way.

Makes sense. I think we are now really stingy with tickets for visiting teams in Moody,

Thanks to all the SMU fans who bought tickets. I was really surprised and pleased when the schedule came out and it was a night game. Should be a great atmosphere.

nobody have ever "beaten down" the fans we do have. I'm very appreciative of the people that do show up. Wish I still lived close enough to attend games myself and do my part. Many of us just state the obvious, i.e., that SMU doesn't have a large enough following to be "accepted" at the big boy table. Unless and until that changes...

Sorry, but being an SMU fan is a beat down. Honestly, had guys like RGV and the 33 gang not been so inviting early on when I was in grad school, no way I would have stuck (so be sure to blame them...). SMU is a school that is dipped, battered, and rolled in exclusivity. Until SMU can be truly inviting, people may show for the weekly blvd scene, but no way will the non-1500 get behind the program. No way. SMU is too small to constantly be eating our own.

Sometimes you just have to get out there and meet people. I don't thinks it so exclusive.

Just act like you're not interested in their club someone will invite you - then just say no thanks you'll be a hit

@OTP I was really confused my your note...Noah still asks about you every time we set foot on campus! I can almost set my watch to it!!!

It's not really a matter of getting out and meeting people. People that know me, know I'm not at all shy. The issue, from my standpoint, is that people subscribed to SMU and paid enormous amounts of money to be exclusive. In analogous terms, people don't join an expensive country club to turn it into a public course!!

I'm sure there are TONS of great people that I haven't had the chance to meet yet, but SMU Nation can be a bit harder to crack. I'm sure with an ambassador like Coach Morris you'll start to see a thaw, but it is what it is. Non-alumni just need to feel like they're invited to belong. All I'm saying. I’ll get off my soapbox (and see you tonight).

Dude you rock and so does your family. You were the exact reason that I set up 33 along with RGV and gave out booze and hosted and entertained because we were trying to get people like yourself to get on board with the program so at least we were successful once. I just move around a lot now

Maybe I should start a guided tour with people that feel similar as you do. Just start at one end of the boulevard with a little bag of goodies and stop by all the kind and giving folks that I have met over the last 8 years there's really a ton of them

Really like guys like you!
My ex wife and son will be down there today for a rare game for her. I take my son often.
She is 88 Smu grad.
I told her she should drop by your tent.
I will be rushing to just make it to stadium by 5:45.
Beat the hell out of anybody!

I think there should be volunteer 'ambassadors' similar to what they have at DFW. Lonely, bored, lost, need info or directions? See an ambassador
