These are both valid points.

There is No Way SMU gets shut out. When you have a good QB who is Fast and can throw, when the play breaks down, thats when he can be most dangerous. No question, TCU is a good team, but I think their D is not the same as last year. Forget that TCU blew out a horrible SFA team, we beat them 50-0 ourselves a few years ago.

We'll score some points. I do worry that their athleticism and size up front will overwhelm our offensive line. Also, we really need another receiver to step up to take some pressure off of Courtland Sutton. There were some plays against UNT where Davis locked in on Sutton and if he was covered he just took off. Part of that was Malone/Castille/Thomas/Walker/etc. not being open but I think most of it is that Davis hasn't developed any kind of trust with those guys. This is all part of being a young team trying to find its identity.

Minnesota, who TCU barely beat 2 weeks ago, only beat Colorado State 23-20 last week.

I think it will be something like what SMT predicts... 45-34 TCU wins in the 4th quarter.

i don't know - playing them at home is a different deal. I agree on neutral field it is maybe a 10 pt game - but at their place i think it is a 24 pt game.

During the Minnesota game the announcers were talking about how TCU only have one 300 DT in the rotation due to losses in graduation. They said this TCU defensive line in lighter than last year so they don't have the size advantage like they have had in the past. I think we will score some points on them.

Sounds like you guys might be drinking the Kool aid. Won't score more than 20 on tcu offensively. Say all you want about tcus defense being cut down to size but they can and will make this team pay for turnovers and stupid mistakes, unlike unt.

Something like 56-17. We aren't good enough to keep up with their offense, period.

I don't think their offense is that good, and Boykin is totally overrated.
We should be able to score some against their battered defense - enough to at least hang with them. It gets out hand in the second though. Something like 56-21.
So 37 sounds like a good line, but I think we barely cover.

Right? One good half against baylor (who runs a very similar offense to tcu) and one ugly win against unt and now we can give tcu a run for their money? That's some ugly math. Just because they lost a lot of starters doesnt mean that every smu player on the field will not likely be lining up against a more experienced, more athletic and better coached player. Not to mention they have 2 games of tape whereas baylor had none! How's the Kool aid taste? Probably a little spiked with some of the expectations I'm seeing in this thread.

So far from what I have seen ... TCU is better then Baylor IMO. I predict w/o key injuries TCU beats Baylor. I think TCU's O is just as strong (if not stronger) as the Bears, and the D is much better .. just MO. I hope I am wrong, but if we score more than 10-14, it will be because of garbage time late in the 4th. I think both teams are overrated at 2 and 4. But, this will be a struggle for SMU this weeks I fear .... and I welcome and hope for the chance to eat every word.
No prediction on the game, other than a wide margin of victory for the Froggies

Well to play devil's advocate the TCU offense didn't set the world on fire against Minnesota. Granted the Gophers have a very talented defense but their leading tackler from 2014 is a Dallas Cowboy now (Damien Wilson) and the Minnesota offense is atrocious. Beating the brakes off of SFA doesn't do anything for me. TCU will score on us and score often. That said, the SMU offense has been pretty productive. If not for a total bonehead mistake at the end of the first half we'd have 28 points in two quarters against Baylor. That, combined with two turnovers deep in NTSU territory in the first half and that scoreline looks a lot more lopsided. That NTSU game should've been about 45-9. Obviously if we turn the ball over like that against TCU they will crush us. All things considered we have moved the ball very well in both games (at times) and have a big time wideout that can make a defense pay. TCU will be playing a ton of guys who have very little experience at the collegiate level. Chad Morris will know this and make it a point of emphasis to attack them. We can move the ball on TCU. The one thing we can't do is turn the ball over. That can't happen otherwise it'll be over quick. What was the primary criticism of the defense after Baylor? Tackling. We did a much, much better job of tackling against NTSU. Yes, a vastly inferior opponent, but the issue was addressed and corrected in practice. I think this will be a fairly close game going into the fourth quarter and much like Baylor, the TCU depth will eventually wear us down. We will give them all they want. I can tell you this much. Our kids won't back down from a dog fight and they sure as hell won't back down to TCU. TCU 45 SMU 28

Did anyone notice how many points Lamar scored on Baylor? I don't know that what we did was really all that impressive.
