Davis has been great, don't get me wrong, but his completion percentage is inflated by WR screens and throws to the flat, and most of his yardage is coming from yards after the catch. I haven't seen enough throws downfield to confidently judge his decision making (throwing) or accuracy. His TD pass in the UNT game was great though, bodes well for the future after we tried punching it in dozens of times in the 3rd quarter. And his decision making when it comes to scrambling is great. His athleticism is a game changer...

And you don't think Trevone Boykin's high completion percentage and yardage is through mostly screens and short 5 yard passes that sometimes makes men miss and they put up big yards? And the occasional long bomb? Battered Pony syndrome

I'll also point out that we have had several QBs over the past 5 years who couldn't hit a WR in stride to save their life. YAC comes as much from ball placement and quick decisions as it comes from the skill of the WR.

Welcome to the CM offense. It is set up for QBs like Matt to be much more successful. Just wait until we get the right personnel to be able to push the temp. Right now things are slowing down 1) because we don't have depth on the OL and 2) because we don't have players that completely match the position we are playing, so we are having to sub in a lot for packages.

Oh I have no doubt that Matt's forced into quick decisions because the OL can't buy him as much time as, say, Wisconsin or Alabama's line could. They'll improve over the course of the season, but I do have confidence in him once he gets time to go through more than one progression.

As far as Boykin goes, I never compared Matt Davis to him? Boykin's stats aren't inflated from screens and shallow crossing routes, they're inflated from dominating inferior competition and wetting the bed against teams with a winning record. I thought the point of the air raid was to stretch the field vertically, i.e. four verts and y-cross?
