How was the lunch?

Postby JasonB » Tue Sep 15, 2015 1:32 pm

Missed it today because I had to visit some customers. Any projectors?

No projectors...

A much different scene than prior lunches.

It was basically a press conference that Mustang Club members could watch while chewing on sandwiches. Not knocking the production, but there was no game film, or any in depth analysis.

Coach is proud of the progress the kids are making, and says we are fortunate to be healthy going into TCU.

I will say this for Coach Morris. He doesn't make any excuses, and he expects to win every game. Malone and Craddock also spoke and took questions. I continue to be impressed with this staff.

Other than that, there was little fanfare and mostly coach-speak. It was a press conference that we were allowed in the room for - nothing more. No mention of facilities.

Yep, entertainment value was not at a high point. This was for media.

Agreed. There isn't much where I would like Coach Morris to mirror JJ, but the JJ-era MC lunches were better.

JJ-era....been there, done that. Time to get to work. I like this way, kind of kills two birds with one stone. Get the weekly press conference out of the way and cater to the fans that want a sandwich at lunch listening to Coach Morris and staff. Seems like a perfect use of Coach Morris' time during game prep week.

Yeah, I liked the format. I especially liked the fact that there was a chance to talk with the coaches directly at the beginning before they sat down for the press part of it. I spent some time talking with Coach Malone and that guy absolutely gets it. If they are going to do it this way moving forward, I would have liked for the media to be mic'ed; it was hard to hear most of the questions. Otherwise, not a bad way to spend an hour or so.

Yessir. This is the same way most big programs do it. Let the coaches get back to work not hang out answering softballs from your buddies. Morris worked the room before he sat down and answered lots of our questions. So did Malone and Craddock. I can do without 40 minutes of game film and excuses and fog of war and how awesome practices are.

showing game film to a bunch of alums isn't going to help our team win. I'm fine with him shaking some hands and getting back to the drawing board.

Mr. Gary Cogill has been to both of the first two games.
He always stops by for a smile and high five.
Good guy.
