UNT has 215,000 local alums and 37,000 students. They made a good showing from a fan standpoint. Was a profitable day for the Ponies. Would it be better to play Ohio State, get 1,000 of their fans and lose by 40-50 points? How high is up when we have been way down.

Ohio State would bring a lot more than 1,000 fans.

If we have 40,000 local alums to achieve the same participation as the 10,000 UNT we would need to bring 1860.

1200? You should take off that 1.

It's not the number of alums or students that matters. It's how many that care. Compare TCU traveling fans vs SMU's. Are they all graduates? Excellent showing by the MG. It was about half their core home game attendees.

They don't draw that well for their home games.

No. One coach killing humiliating loss to a huge university where everyone except music and radio/television majors are essentially in hireable was enough in the Bennett era. Of course those games are apples and oranges. One was a hopefull super bowl. The other was a lame duck death knell. It was simply an interesting comparison.

An example of Walmart fans is the Arkansas Razorbacks. Most of the fans are not graduates of the U of A or ever attended.

That's why most of the state schools are at the P5 table. Marketing dollars don't check for your diploma.

If we finish the year out strong, show legit signs of improving/gaining valuable experience, and mo going into 2016 ... plus, we have a good recruiting class coming in .... add lots of buzz heading into the 2016 season and a strong start .... we might bring a good crowd north next year.

Imagine if we squeeze in a bowl this season ... big "If" I know.
