Most of the team was June's at that point.
With some Bennett seniors. That game was the beginning of the end of the JJ era. No other game was that exciting after that.

Only two weeks before the infamous "anonymous walk-on" letter written by June.

I think we are seeing this year that the players June recruited weren't horrible. But soon after that game, we lost Klemm, Reinbold, and the S&C program changed. That killed the offseason program and efficiency at practice.

Klemm and his famous recruiting. I guess maybe one or two of the players that he ever brought to SMU has actually seen the field?
We lost some of the Klemm players to Washington State. Gabe Marks has been a nice receiver for WSU (what an awful season that team is having). Would Gabe Marks be better than Courtland Sutton? Dunno.
I guess WSU has a good linebacker who was a Klemm player originally committed to SMU.

Here's how we beat them in 2011. We exploited a very young secondary and threw it deep early and often (and of course protected the QB long enough to throw the deep ball). That, and we hit them in the mouth defensively because were an older team and had folks like T Reed and JG who backed down from no one and were [deleted] crazy (on the field). And then of course instead of totally screwing up right before half (cough cough Baylor this year) we actually got a key turnover on special teams to start the second half and even SCORED on it. Right when TCU could have taken the momentum back, we said "hold on, wait a minute".
Here's how we beat them this year IMHO:
Fundamentals and Focus, especially early, especially on defense. HAVE to tackle extremely well. HAVE to keep the speed in front of you if at all possible. Then, on offense, establish a running attack and quick passes/strikes. Don't have Matt run too much early (they think all they have to do is stop his scrambling and we are easy to beat). Try to wear them down with nice, long methodical drives (they are not that big up front, not that we are either but can be worn down). Do that and get a key turnover or 2 and KILL IT in special teams and who knows, maybe the ball game will be tight heading into the 4th quarter. Do it not, 50 plus to something in the teens and over by 3rd. That simple. NOT easy, but simple.
