Trying to kick Away from TCU's returner. That last punt was bad though, I agree.

Koonce was the least crappy player on special teams last year. How is our new punter better?

OIur new punter is from Texas... that might play into it, even if it is a wash. But I agree with mavs, we were just kicking away from the returner.

He was a (highly) recruited kicker who couldn't win that job, and is now punting...and absolutely killing us in the process.

We are in trouble if Koonce couldn't even hold onto his job...then again his stats last year were All-District high school numbers at best. But somehow we're worse off.

We couldn't handle that Turpin kid-our punter did a good job kicking away from him after the First Quarter or so. You can't punt to that kid-he is too good athlete and we had no one that could handle him. I'll take a 30 yard kick just tom keep him away from the ball

You guys are idiots if you think a 30 yard shank is punting away from a player. He couldn't hit a spiral 40 yards opposite of a returner are you "F"ING kidding me. We should get WT Whites punter. Three god awful performances. Thank god the ball rolled forward. Oh wait, it didn't the entire time.

Let's see if Morestead can come work with the kid on his bye week or we will loose because of a lack of talent in special teams. I don't care if a player is from Egypt if he can punt the ball put him in.

Although not said very eloquently, totally agree with gunner. We have seen three weeks of sub par performance from our punting. Last yrs punter was better and its time to bring him back.

They were trying to kick away from Turpin the entire second half. His punts didn't hurt us in second half because there weren't any returns on most of them. The last thing we needed last night was one of those 45 yards punts that is returned to the house. This Turpin kid is going to be great

not sure what Koonce did to get in coaches doghouse, but based on last year's performance compared to what we are seeing this year, he should get another look

You can kick away from someone and also do it with more than 30 yes of distance. You have to admit our punting has been a weak spot this year.

SMU was 95th in Net Punting last year and 78th this year. You guys are making too much of this. Yes he can improve but last nite he was clearly punting to the sidelines in the 2nd half because they didn't want Turpin to touch the ball. He was killing us in all aspects of the game in the first half

I daresay the faithful, no matter how many or few are present, will let everyone know how they feel if # 35 sees the field again.

The most important phase of the punting action is the drop. Our guy tosses the ball in the air and then kicks it, hence the problem. For example, if you can, look at the photo slide show on Rivals from last night's game.
