Actually, it's on the main SMU twitter, and appears related to the centennial. Nothing about it on the athletics twitter account.

Second, they tweeted earlier about "the giants are coming", with this super creepy weird video. Perhaps that's the "big" news? Giant paper mache figures of Doak, Herky, Kathy Bates, and other famous SMU alums?

That's probably it, and that's a big deal but I really wish they'd stop this "Big Announcement" stuff. It almost feels like crying "Wolf" at times. I'm starting to roll my eyes every time I see this now. I'm not so much excited as annoyed. "Big Announcement" should be reserved major donors, a med school, a new research facility, a new (and improved) conference, IPF/Swim center, a huge increase in our USNews rankings (HA!)... something of that magnitude. It's not that we don't occasionally get things of that magnitude, but when mixed in with the other stuff (Sports memories? Really?) it loses it's punch and makes us look dumb. And while hitting a billion is a big deal, it's been done before elsewhere AND we were supposed to do that anyway with this new campaign. If the "Big Announcement" is that we hit our intended goal, that seems anticlimactic.
