Not really, it means your in your mid-50's

Hey, I'm in my mid 50s and loved watching the Pony Express on Saturdays! I have to say that jealousy and envy is never flattering on anyone, football dad.

I actually like Craig James more now that I know that footballdad doesn't like him.

In all seriousness though, would I ever vote for him? No. Do I want him around our team? Yes.

I very much like Craig James and I hold him in high regard. A great teammate.

I also know football dad and like him as well. I also hold him in high regard. A great opponent (yes, we played against each other).

It baffles me that we spend so much energy on one player. As I talk to folks in areas other than DFW metroplex, people are not so interest in CJ as they are in ED. The priorities for knowledge about two SMU greats is vastly different than with some SMU fans.

We have many SMU greats and I am thankful when they returned and support SMU.

Are there any great stories in which you played with Craig James? I know in those years the QB would PITCH it out on the option.

To be honest when I played I was very much like an Italian race car driver, 'What is behind me, doesn't concern me.'

Just a little history lesson. SMU has long had a tradition of religious freedom and tolerance. It allowed the Hari Krishnas to hold a moon festival on the main quad. It allowed the followers of Reverend Moon to share their perverted gospel stories. Its given Muslims open access to have gatherings on campus. Its allowed the Baptists to have a student center. In other words, SMU allows fbdad, Craig James, and the Pope all to celebrate their religious beliefs without condemnation from the University. Some alums are now fundamentalist Christians who do feel that certain behaviors are sinful and should not be given state sanction. Some alums are now marrying their same sex partners probably in our chapel for all I know. In other words, we don't ban people for their religious beliefs at SMU or their lack of them. Let's keep this about sports. Craig James was one of the greatest running backs in SMU history. He was on the team that arguably was the National Champion in 1983. So, if he's now on campus rallying the players, that's commendable. We've had almost 30 rough years since the death penalty. Anything we can do to connect today's players with the excellence on the field can't hurt. Especially if we want P5 status.

Well stated. People need to learn that you can disagree and yet not be disagreeable.

My favorite memories of SMU were during the Pony Express days. Loved those teams. Even as a high school kid living out in the sticks, I was able to convince my parents to let me drive to Texas Stadium to watch the Mustangs in action. You just knew any moment CJ or ED would break free for a long TD run. It was blast to be a fan/student during those years.

Doesn't that quote describe about 85% of the people on here from 2013 until CM was hired? Just saying...

People didn't hate the school, just the coach.
