From what I hear about the new Sunday scrimmages, Severt is the only potential QB option. Let's just say yesterday, Colbert took all the reps because Severt was injured, and he ended up something like 2 for 26 passing. Shouldn't take long for the new staff to evaluate and move him to slot, safety, wherever.....or for him to transfer if he doesn't like that idea. Severt on the other hand getting good reviews and is uncanny in his similarity to Gilbert with his size and athletic ability in general. Not in any way saying he will end up being the next Gilbert, but he apparently throws well and is a physical clone." -footballdad http://ponyfans.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.ph ... 3&start=15 You, literally, are as dumb as your avatar. Since we're making guesses based on my positive reviews of QB's, why haven't you pegged me as Mr. Davis yet? James should be banned from campus, not welcomed. I'll be sure to have a conversation with those who know better, about the potential negative blowback to the University, from his presence and potential influence on these kids.
We know who you are, you don't have to be a coward anymore. Like you said its not 2003 anymore

EastStang wrote:Just a little history lesson. SMU has long had a tradition of religious freedom and tolerance. It allowed the Hari Krishnas to hold a moon festival on the main quad. It allowed the followers of Reverend Moon to share their perverted gospel stories. Its given Muslims open access to have gatherings on campus. Its allowed the Baptists to have a student center. In other words, SMU allows fbdad, Craig James, and the Pope all to celebrate their religious beliefs without condemnation from the University. Some alums are now fundamentalist Christians who do feel that certain behaviors are sinful and should not be given state sanction. Some alums are now marrying their same sex partners probably in our chapel for all I know. In other words, we don't ban people for their religious beliefs at SMU or their lack of them. Let's keep this about sports. Craig James was one of the greatest running backs in SMU history. He was on the team that arguably was the National Champion in 1983. So, if he's now on campus rallying the players, that's commendable. We've had almost 30 rough years since the death penalty. Anything we can do to connect today's players with the excellence on the field can't hurt. Especially if we want P5 status.
Very well said. We are also a frequent destination for the Dalai Lama. We also were one of, if not the first, "white" colleges in the south to welcome MLK speaking on campus (back when it was actually sort of "extreme"). Then, of course, there's Levias. Damn proud of my school's tolerance of all perspectives/religions. And if I were a RB especially, I'd be picking CJ's brain all day long and twice on Sunday. Performance on the field and one's political / religious beliefs are 2 totally separate things. I have a vested interest in the performance part - I don't really give a rat's [deleted] about your political/religious views. I'm not a fan of "W" (I worked for Billy Jeff) but I LOVE that he comes to our games/talks to our teams. (still getting used to his library on campus, but I'd rather have a POTUS library at my alma mater than not).

How long has JJ been married? He certainly stands up for what he believes in.

Q: When does legitimate criticism of your school become [deleted] on your school? A: When I don't like his politics and don't believe in his right to have honest opinions that differ from mine.
