What happened to Wood and Briggs?

Re: What happened to Wood and Briggs?
Perhaps a silly question, but do you think there are any Freshman who haven't played yet on D that they might try running out there? I know it would be ideal to red shirt everyone we can, but at this rate trying ANYTHING on the defense is sounding good.

PonyPride wrote:Briggs did play. Chad Morris said after the game that Pursley got the start because Briggs "was out" some during the week and Pursley had a great week of practice, so they gave him the start. But Briggs did get in the game some. Pretty sure Wood did not play.
Fwiw I did see wood on the sideline in full pads. I assumed he had been benched

I think Morris is finding reasons to play freshmen to develop depth without demoting the starter. He kind of indicates that in his post game interview. He knows he is building for the future, not just this year.

Re: What happened to Wood and Briggs?
the only 2 freshman that MIGHT be physically ready to make some contribution on defense are Kevin Johnson and Clemons who got hurt last nite. Johnson at least has the speed to run with all of these WRs (4.42 Laser timed 40). Many of us knew it on signing day-the freshman recruiting class is top heavy on offense in both numbers and quality. We do have a few that might help in the future after a heavy dose of the Strength and Conditioning program but they are really developmental projects physically

I know the Scott's played a bit of Star before sprint practice, I wonder if they could fit there? What about that kid Williams?
Briggs is our best lineman by far, so losing him was huge. The sack of Davis on the last drive came from that side. Lots of help. I changed seats and sat part of the game behind Davis and he was only looking on the left side of the field, never looked right which is where Sutton was. I kind of think he was looking at the rush a lot.
