Re: We better be working on our appealHeels fans are worried, and saddened that the NCAA was heavy handed with the punishment here. They hope some of the differences in the cases are enough to spare a post season ban, ie that SMU coaches weren't truthful, an athletic dept employee did the course work and told the SA to lie whereas at UNC it really boils down to an academic department offered easy classes to the whole student body. Not really under the purview of the NCAA since it wasn't done under the direction of the athletic department. Every school has easy classes and most students know where to find them
Re: We better be working on our appealUNC fans simply were saying how their academic crimes were committed by teachers and not the coaching staff and thus they should not be punished as badly as we were. If UNC isn't banned for three years from post season, I think we have a great case of selective enforcement. Although I will say that their fans pointed to their women's team as the one that will take the hit. I could see the NCAA punishing UNC women's hoops with a three year ban and then hitting men with a slap on the wrist and think they were not selective in their enforcement.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: We better be working on our appeal
There is precedent.
Re: We better be working on our appealUNC will not get a 3 year ban. One at most, but that is unlikely except in WBB. The school will have to pay a very large fine, and each team may lose scholarship(s) for taking advantage of easy classes
Football has undersigned the last two years in anticipation of this SMU should appeal, and hope we do. Loved the applause the men's team got during the football game this weekend. Fans are so hungry for greatness
Re: We better be working on our appealhaving easy classes is one thing, having easy classes where athletes say they didn't even do the easy work is another. The former is nothing. The latter is an obvious and blatant institutional control issue of the highest order wouldn't you say? I don't care if UNC gets a postseason ban for it, I really don't, except that we are getting hosed.
