Hope it was a similar screw up to The Miami investigation.

Look at the title of this thread. We're "considering an appeal." You don't verbalize that unless you are going to take action. You would look ridiculous to rattle that sabre and then meekly accept the penalty two weeks later. This was a draconian, unfair result, and it is encouraging news that the University is willing to fight. Going into this, the Administration's thinking was that we would have virtually no choice but to take our medicine and move on. The one exception was that we would resist if the ruling was egregious. It was, and it looks like we will. That would be a welcomed change from the way we have typically addressed these matters.

Quite frankly...that's BS. Sounds like "we already know what the NCAA is going to do, so don't worry, because it isn't impacting recruiting at all." I am pretty certain they screwed up...it's the NCAA! It's what they do. But how will we be able to hold them accountable?

Even if we appeal, can LB sit out the games at the beginning of the seasons so that if the postseason ban is dropped, his suspension will already be considered as "time served"? Then hopefully if the appeal goes our way, at least on the postseason ban part, we'll be ready to go at the end of the season.

Agreed, but at the same time it just annoys me when people claim to have that card on here and then say "I'll just leave it at that". The "Ha ha, I know something you don't know" schtick wears thin real quick, kinda like the "we know what is coming and trust us it won't be that bad" schtick that came from "insiders" right before our program got kicked in the nuts. I don't give a crap who's connected, who's not, who has the inside track. If you have something useful, give it to someone who can use it; if not, join the rest of us in waiting for WFAA to tell us what we supposedly already knew yet apparently had no [deleted] clue about.

Generally, I agree with this sentiment. Today, however, I am thoroughly depressed about SMU athletics in general, and hoops in particular. So I have decided to uncritically accept Top Twenty's cryptic and unsubstantiated post at face value. The fact is, it makes me feel better. And for right now, that's good enough.

"The NCAA, after months of tightening the noose, managed to make a glaring, fundamental error in its ruling. This may significantly enhance our chances on appeal."

was said by Top Twenty or TopT paraphrasing Turner? Or TopT knows something? Either way I will trust it is true bc this drink is not making things any better like I hoped :-/
