If RGT and Hart do not have the cajones to appeal this then I suspect the backlash from the alums/financial supporters of athletics will be significant.
Perhaps the Billion $ that RGT recently announced might just fall short due to some 'withdrawals'.

Top Twenty is at least a former insider with SMU athletics and NCAA infractions. Trust what he says.

I hope we appeal.

SMU must appeal just to maintain the brand of the university and the value of all of our degrees. This is much bigger than an athletic ban. It's like the DP part two. We must never back down from this.

It is clear we are appealing if you read between the lines. The fact RGT is backing LB speaks for him.

Right now we are all focused on the issue at hand. One problem with appealing is it drags out the time frame of the impact on recruitment. Need to figure out that one for sustainability

Appeal this and fight tooth an nail or the NCAA will just keep SMU as its whipping boy, and we will get slammed with disproportionate penalties even for minor infractions.

We want it to drag out past the NCAA Tournament so the seniors can play in it.

110% agree. However our recruiting strategy through this mess will be VERY important if we want a program to be proud of 5 years from now

Years ago an SMU football player was ruled ineligible and the decision was contested in court. An injunction kept him on the field for a few games although I don't think he finished the season. That was probably during Hayden Fry's time or Dave Smith's. I don't remember if the lawsuit was against the SWC or NCAA.

The player was a center and his first name might have been Mike and the family name Clark or Smith.

Anybody, team mate, or someone closer to the program then remember what I'm talking about?

Certainly I not suggesting any similarities between what happened then and our present problem. I hope that those who "know something" are right and that the penalty will be very much reduced.

by the way, we can choose to appeal only the post season and some or part of the scholarship reductions/recruiting restrictions.

I would guess the appeal will be for
1) post season
2) some smaller number of scholarship reduction (say 6 vs 9)

LB will begin his "sentence" with game number one.

Would love nothing better than to see MK play with a giant chip on his shoulder even bigger than the normal chip, with Nic and the others just flat our pissed.
