CSTV Archived Games - Help

Postby RE Tycoon » Tue Nov 29, 2005 4:35 pm

I'm trying to watch the UTEP game through the CSTV archive thing and I'm having a whole lot of trouble. When I try to watch it, it does one of two things; it "buffers" about every 5-7 seconds, or it "hashes" and the audio keeps going while the video freezes. I have a high speed internet connection a year old computer and I downloaded the newest version of Windows Media Player today, so I don't know what it could be. If someone with expertise in the area has any suggestions, I would appreciate the help.

Try this configuration and see if it helps at all:

Well, I did everything recomended and it started hashing real bad. So, I played with the connection speeds and it stopped hashing, but now it's buffering a lot again. I'm out of ideas.

I use a machine with 512MB of ram. Another machine, also slower, with less memory does not work at all.

Can you increase the memory (virtual memory)?

Don't know how to adjust virtual memory. The only time I've dealt with that is when I get a message saying it's too low (on a previous computer). Here are the specs for my computer, in case it sheds some light on the problem.

Pentium 4
1700 MHz
1.69 GHz
512 MB of RAM

Don't really know what all of that means, I just know where to find it.

If it's buffering, it's probably your connection. I'm not sure what you mean by hashing.

Ok. I found the virtual memory and increased it to 766 MB (recomended level) from 384. But I still have the buffering every few seconds. Is this indicative of a computer problem, i.e. still not enough virtual memory, network problem or a security software problem. Once again thanks for all the help.
