this was the amount sued for by Ed O'Bannon for the commercial use of players likeness in video games, jerseys, TV, video etc in the amount of up to $5,000 per year in deferred compensation

The Court of Appeals actually affirmed (as other Courts) have that there was an anti-trust violation and upheld separate educational-related payments for Student-Athletes for full costs of attendance. Split the baby.

Some athletes. O'Bannon is getting hosed, I believe that, but other athletes from other schools who don't bring in the revenue he does are already getting a free ride and that's more than they're worth as college athletes.

A free ride at SMU, Baylor, Rice, TCU, Duke, Vanderbilt, Tulane, Miami, USC, Notre Dame, Georgetown are much more valuable than say a free ride at UT or A&M. Tuition at SMU is what 5 times more than UT?
