Would be nice to have a good crowd. Great weather and a solid conference opponent. That said this has been a gut punch week for SMU.

As bad as the defense has been, the team is definitely fun to watch. With an improved game experience I would hope we have return visitors. Not sure if ECU brings them out. A couple wins will bring some back.

Bad start time for the ECU game though. :)

Strong student turnout. Great time in the knoll and in the 'other games' tent.

Texas Rangers may be re-writing the consensus that this is a winner's town-they can't come close to a sellout even in a successful pennant race despite about 7 Million in the Metroplex. $10 tickets tonite. Arlington just is too far to fight the rush-hour traffic I guess

There was actually an article in yesterday's D Magazine Online about the city of Dallas making a push to build the Rangers a ballpark in downtown. Easy public transit and closer to the explosive growth of the northern Dallas suburbanites who don't want to drive out to Arlington on a weeknight.

Wonder how much effect the Cowboys being out there has. Not just from a stuff-to-do point of view, but an overall beat down. I go to Arlington for my older sons soccer league every other weekend. Traffic is akin to 75 at Northpark holiday traffic all the damn time

I guess that [deleted] applies to baseball as well. Who the hell wants to pay $70 to park and $10 to get in the game.

Arlington is a logistical nightmare on a good day.

As a Lakewood native I can say that I would love to be able to catch a baseball game in a climate controlled downtown stadium and be home before midnight. Can't say that about where the Rangers currently play.

All that said I can't imagine the backlash Dallas would get from Arlington and Tarrant County residents if there actually was a push to move the Rangers to downtown Dallas. Also, Dallas doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to getting stadiums funded/built. The AAC won by the every most narrow of margins back in the day.

Don't waste tax payers money publicly funding stadiums. Arlington consistently shot down public transit, and gave away huge amounts of cash to get the cowboys there. I was actually glad Dallas lost out, so they could continue to develop a real downtown and not publicly finance Jerry World. The rangers in fair park or else where in Dallas would be great, but these stadiums end up like tiny olympic bids with financial incentives that wipe out the positive economic impact (which is often grossly over calculated).
