Herman started with an 8 win team, Morris unherited a dumptster fire, full of DII talent. Going to a night game at Rob-somebody Stadium, was always an adventure. That beautiful stadium, is just like "putting lipstick on a pig"

Wasn't it actually called High School Field at one point?

Obviously, we win on that one.

Don't some of the better athletes come out of the area in which they are situated?

Yep and the type of comments in this thread are exactly why most of them don't come to SMU.

It's Pony fans.

Our current recruiting classes are pretty much neck and neck. Morris will be knocking the snot out of yall when he gets two or three classes under his belt - so enjoy this year while you can.

Good teams come and go, but UH is permanently terrible at what a university is suppose to be. Yall are what - ranked number 8 gabillion down the list? You and Tx State battling it out for number 200 top universities? Sad.

I see no elite commits in SMU's class.

Neck & neck, seriously? Morris is working hard, and has the tougher job, but the results on paper are not was is needed to keep pace with Herman.

Hopefully he can 'coach em' up' better. The scores next year and the following year will be the ultimate judge.

Geez, this is why some of us who actually have info. to discuss don't post things. No excuses being made, just pointing out not an apples to apples comparison right now, and that if Morris had Houston's team and schedule he probably would have better record than Hermann. They both are good coaches and for both schools and conference need both schools competitive, it is not going to look good tonight on TV if blow out one way or the other or we lose the rest of our games because it will hurt Houston's strength of schedule. Just like playing an 0-fer UCF team does not help Houston this year in rankings.

But lets not let facts get in the way of things. Fact is Houston has more students and presumably larger alumni base so should draw more fans. Fact is this summer there was shooting at noon time during baseball tournament and when we were finally allowed to leave the stadium the police officers told all of us happens all the time around there and be glad not playing a night game. Fact is my in-law who is successful in computer business in Houston was asked to run different matrixes for admissions for athletes and classes to transfer from HCC into Houston, and that Houston offers hotel and hospitality majors SMU does not have. You can interpret those facts in different ways I guess but so be it. Those aren't excuses, and again I don't care that Houston has those things, but they are very different than SMU.

And yes fact is Houston should win the game tonight, but hopefully one can be somewhat objective that they should this year. Houston is not perfect in all areas, nor is SMU, but we both need each other in this conference and need good competitive games. Could care less about endowment, or other things this post got off on, but one must recognize for now this is not really equal fight.

Wow! Morris is a really good coach if he would have a better record than undefeated. I couldn't resist.

Haha, I noticed the same thing. But I do agree about his whole argument.

At the end of the day this is a good rivalry to have.

Only a few spots from Tech after they dropped 16 spots this year. Too many Coogs taking their time to graduate.

4 1/4 hours til the stompdown commences.

Looking back I wish I had taken longer to graduate. Maybe they are smarter than we think??

I don't think they are taking longer for the same reason you wanted to take longer.
