I never ever said anything about wanting Phillips to take over. I have no love for June but I don't have the simplistic pitchfork mentality of many

Re: Houston game thread
We ought to have a thread of those football savants that want to jump off the bandwagon. I'm driving this thing and I'm 100% sure this is gonna get turned around. If you didn't expect this you don't know much college football. I'll tell you right now Defense will be poor until 2017 and most likely 2018-but we are going to get there. We have nothing on defense to build with-the answers are in high school. BTW I said AFTER Baylor and TCU games that I wasn't sure we were better on defense than last year. Didn't fool me

Offense is okay; Defense is atrocious and worse than last year. We agree.

I admit I got fooled by the TCU and Baylor games, but who can still have any expectations after JMU and ECU?
We are who we are at this point.

We have linebackers that couldn't start for A&M-Commerce.

Offense? No.
Defense? Hell no.
Special teams? Absolutely not.
This isn't black and white...there is more to it than crap players who are tired.
Yup. I get everybody loves this new coaching staff but they have to take some of the blame on the horrible second half performances and not just put everything on the players.

I can't wait until we have our first "retirement" of 2015.

If anyone deserved a pitchfork, it was June Jones.

You wanted Mason to take over, right?

Re: Houston game thread
I knew we'd be bad this year. Offense is much better than I expected. Defense is hard to truly describe. Aside from Justin Lawler (who is only a sophomore and can be a nice player for us these next few years) there is NOTHING. ZILCH. NADA. The systemic talent destruction done under the last few years of the June Jones regime is astounding.

Isn't Mason more culpable than June for our defense recruits?

WTF did we expect? We keep putting up respectable scores against vastly superior talent. Thats HCCM. Give him time

They all share in the blame but the leadership and recruiting strategy (or total lack thereof) starts with the head coach. June didn't hold his assistants accountable and the results speak for themselves.
After the JMU game I was walking out of Ford and a JMU fan said that SMU was the worst defense they'll see all season. Hard to argue.
