I think it's kinda sorry for him to do this right now in the middle of the season. I agree with others that he is providing cover when and if he bolts. If UH can average 32k - 35k this season then it's a big step in the right direction...he knew what he was getting into.

To those of you who want us to play a cream puff schedule - take note. From a casual fan and national perspective our conference doesn't have very exciting teams.

Why does he need any cover if he leaves? Money is enough of a factor. Sumlin and Briles didn't need to lean on attendance concerns. The UH prez was in Dallas earlier this week and I'm convinced she will do what it takes to keep him for a while. If the Big 12 expands without UH, then I see him leaving. I think we'll give him $2.3 million or so after this year with incentives and new buyout.
We've heard that attendance (and probably TV viewership) are the key things keeping us out of P5. Attendance is something we can control. Herman is doing his part. The UH Prez can do a bit more to add to the gameday experience but it's pretty decent as it is. I am confident that the Cinci game will sell out, especially if we win at UCF and vs. Vandy on Halloween.

Meanwhile, southbeach on a Friday night and the place is crawling with Houston Texans fans. Looks like a bowl game contingent for their game vs Dolphins sun. So I guess they'll support something, just maybe not the coogs.

The Texans are 7-0 lifetime versus the Dolphins. They traveled to see a sure win!

Herman's attendance comments are the first of a multiple step process for him to setup his exit at the end of the season. Hard to look at it as anything else.

So...if/when Chad starts complaining about our (lack of) attendance, we will know he's getting ready to leave?

There is a time and place for calling out the fans for attendance. 7-0, new young high profile Coach, new Stadium, a school at the top of the ladder for moving up to P5 and a student body of what 45,000(?) is a pretty appropriate time to "encourage" the fanbase to strike while the iron is hot. Now that the Stadium has been built, the only thing keeping UH out of the P5 right now is their student body and alumni.

Dumpster fire? Says the guy who has a Herman Cain avatar in 2015. Explain.
