One of my pet peeves is giving tickets away to people that won't ever come back. It is a waste of energy and money. They aren't going to buy concessions. They aren't going to buy tickets in the future.

I do think we need to lower ticket prices down to like 5 dollars for entry, and let people flood in, and hope you can make some money off of concessions but main reason is to eliminate barrier to entry. I remember I was able to drag my friend to a game (sadly went to SMU and has to be dragged) and he was like Im not paying 20 bucks. Fortunately we were able to buy someone's extra ticket for 10 bucks. I know 20 is pocket change to some, but for people like my friend it seems like an overpriced admission.

Depends on how far you're interpreting the comment. Of course, one flash-in-the-pan 10-2 season won't cure our attendance problems. A 10-2 season followed by heavy marketing over the spring & summer as well as continued success over the following season would probably make huge strides. No comparison is perfect for SMU, but take a look at Temple:

2013 (2-10): Averaged 20k
2014 (6-6): Averaged 21k-22k
2015 (7-1): Have averaged around 35k-36k

And that's not even including the huge home games like Penn State and ND, although the former was 60k+ with mostly Temple fans filling the stands.

Why do we even sell 2nd-tir seating? Just stop selling those tickets and both sides will look +15% more full. I honestly don't understand why they are even offered. We'd be forgiven by TV crews if the red seats were mostly full. The scattered out bit looks bad.
