Boy, it really would take a two or three loss champion in the Big10/Big XII/Pac10/ACC before a undefeated G5 could even hope to get into the playoff. Under the guise of being "more fair" it really does separate the P5 to the adult table and the G5 to the kids' table. A 2005/2009 Utah or 2009 Boise State would have no chance. I know we had talked about this but it really became clear reading that article.

TCU has nothing to be ashamed of-they are doing just about as well as can be expected with a completely rebuilt Defense-in fact I thought they'd lose about 4 games-and I think they still may lose about 2 maybe 3 games

So what's Bama's excuse with that murderous Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Monroe, and Charleston Southern non-conference schedule? Add in a loss already, and there's no way they should be ahead of Baylor or TCU.

I am in the same camp as football dad. ND is more justifiable w/ a loss on the road to clemson. Bama just gets the benefit of the doubt I guess

It's because the committee is made of overwhelmingly SEC and BIG10 supporters

I've said all along that the only way the Big XII makes the final four is if their champion goes undefeated. Otherwise, they will need the all the champions from the other P5 conferences to have 1-2 losses. Would still love to see Ole Miss win the SEC, Memphis roll to a 13-0 season and for nobody else in college football to go undefeated just to see if the committee would put Memphis in. I have my doubts, but it would be nice to know the G5 schools really do have an opportunity to compete for a national championship.

Lots of football to be played and it will work itself out...but there will be controversy as long as there are only 4 spots and 5 "power" conferences

I really really hope the Big 12 is left out of the CFP. That would be awesome, but like ECM said, if OSU wins out, they will probably be in it. So I'm hoping they all crumble.

Strength of Schedule (Sagarin)

Alabama 9
Notre Dame 16
Baylor 104

Alabama is actually the highest rated team in Sagarin. Screw Baylor-they have been warned they can't play that schedule coming from the Big 12 and have a shot at the National Championship-What do they do? Double down. Next question

4) Baylor
5) Clemson
6) LSU
7) Michigan St

9) Stanford
10) Florida

So if Baylor runs the table and beats OU, OSU and TCU (both on the road) in 3 of their last 4 games, do they belong in the final 4 at that point?

Actually makes the most sense. Even though I don't like Alabama at #2 (because of my own bias I'm sure) :D

This. They scheduled Incarnate Word still after knowing the complaints about their scheduling and again Steele, Judson, any local HS runs all over Incarnate Word. They could have scheduled Southern Miss, UNT, anybody and still bought their wins instead with even lesser schools like Incarnate Word. ESPN guys last night laid it out again for them. This is self-induced.

It is why Baylor law alum I work with often said he pulled his support for Briles after attending a meeting where Briles basically said we are sticking with this easy win formula because need to stack Ws. Not all the Baylor people like their SOS, believe me.

Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Monroe, Charleston Southern

Baylor runs the table with a backup QB and they're in. (and I'm no Baylor fan)

But that comes from the constant inflation of SEC teams in the polls. Tennesee, Georgia, SC, Miss. St, auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, are garbage but many of them have been ranked this year (some quite highly). There are exactly 3 good teams in the SEC this year: Alabama, LSU and Florida and two mediocre teams A&M and Ole Miss. Alabama lost at home to a team that should not be in the top 25 (and probably won't finish there). That should be disqualifying against any team that goes undefeated.

I don't have a problem with the rankings. Baylor hasn't played very many teams with a pulse and TCU has been less than convincing several times this year (including the season opener vs. Minnesota and their game against us). Meanwhile, while Alabama has a loss, they also have looked fantastic against good competition (see their game in Kyle Field - does anyone think this year's TCU team would dominate the Aggies like that? And the score was closer than the play on the field would suggest).

If I had one complaint, it's that ND may be ranked too highly.

Remember that these rankings are a measure of the body of work up until now, not a projection of where teams will be at the end of the season.

Who is "Vegas"? The first three sports book sites that came up on Google had TCU 9th, 5th, and 9th.

Too bad LSU and Bama still have to play each other.
It would be awesome to see TCU and Baylor get left out again.
