Fun Fact - If Matt Davis rushes for 148 yards, he will break Ricky Wesson's single season QB rushing record of 885 Yards set in 1974. Davis is sitting at 738 on the season and is the teams leading rusher.
Any pony fans planning to be at the game? A few of us will be there and tailgating in the lot southeast of the stadium. Haven't bought my ticket yet because there appear to be plenty available, but let me know if anyone knows what section they put the visitors. Should be an entertaining game. Hopefully, the distractions and Paxton's recent issues will continue.
These Rice, TCU, UH, Baylor style stadiums with the covered concourses with an open view to the field really serve a purpose. Rain/Heat. Wish we could have designed Ford like that but I'm aware of the height restrictions
Rice Stadium may be old but it is also the blueprint for the modern college stadium

may not have been just the height restriction factor, might have also been a cost issue. Ford's bowl concept is about as simple of a design as you could have for a stadium. Ford is nice enough seeming with the brick exterior and all, but it is a pretty poor functional design for us. Heck, there aren't even any seats in Ford, only rows of benches even in the premium sections. Houston's new stadium looks like a tin can from the outside but the inside is done pretty well with the mezzanine level and open flow. The luxury suites and gathering areas are much lower and from what I could tell encourage the bigger donors to sit in the outdoor seats (real seats) between the 40s but go inside the glass to socialize and eat at halftime while still having a good view of the field level.
For once, I am pleased with the 11:00 am kickoff. I'm watching from Russia where it will be 8:00 pm and a reasonable evening hour. I tune in the radio on the internet, and turn down the Russian color commentary on ViaSat. You will be amused to learn that college football has a following here. If only they could find knowledgeable commentators who spoke Russian then the people might learn something about the game. The UH game late last night went something like this: Houston runs the ball. Houston throws the ball and gets a touchdown. ViaSat airs the live feed without editing. You see everything.
I am hopeful the Ponies win in Memphis.
