Re: Official: SMU at Memphis Thread
I love how statements of expectation that the defense make adjustments and scheme for their players strength is viewed as blasphemy here because it counters the undying support of the new regime. I don't think Malone needs to go, but I do know this is his first rodeo as DC and it seems we have completely different expectations for the offense and defense regarding coaching. You can see where talent abs skull is hurting individual players on offense, such as when Davis can't hit open receivers continuously. On defense, the team is making the same mistakes and bad reads consistently which points to more than just individual skill issues. I just hope Malone learns from this.

What do you think firing Malone will accomplish?
Dude I don't care how much the defense lacks talent! IT COULD BE ME AND YOU OUT THERE AND A DECENT COACH WOULD KEEP US FROM BREAKING THE SCHOOL RECORD FOR MOST POINTS GIVEN UP IN SCHOOL HISTORY. THIS DEFENSE IS SOMEHOW WORSE THAN ALL THOSE CRAPPY DEFENSES FROM THE 80S AND 90S.
I guess we should fire Coach Morris too because our offense is playing badly as well.
Hell no. offense has been good all year long. defense has sucked all year long.

I didn't think Memphis recruited well the last few years.

Like most coaches, Malone will seem a lot smarter when he gets better talent.

We're trying that. Doesn't seem to be working.

7 TDs to 7 different receivers. Wow.

Even Pony-Nate didn't think it would be this bad.

Possibly the worst thing about this game is that it is the last. This was a chance to finish and show some pride and some heart. Anyone who thinks this is all talent is delusional. This team can do better, it is just apathetic.
It's a disgrace.
It's a disgrace.

With this "effort" this team is showing today they should not be surprised if 100 fans show up to North texas state and Baylor to start the year.

Thanks June indeed. Anytime we play a team with D1 talent, we get throttled. Junior and seniors next year need to go. Purge of June's old guard.
