Source: Barry Odom has been offered the head job at Memphis
Re: Reports: Herman to UGA
Not the source. Georgia's pay sites had it yesterday. Friend who is a big UGA booster says Herman is the guy.
Re: Reports: Herman to UGA
I agree. Not a knock on herman but I doubt a program like georgia is going to hire a still relatively unproven head coach to replace richt.
Re: Reports: Herman to UGAI think Georgia is going for Kirby Smart
Re: Reports: Herman to UGA
Been in the works for a while from what I was told. Main reason he said no to south Carolina.
Re: Reports: Herman to UGA@DanWolken: FWIW, Tom Herman was the primary recruiter for Atlanta on Ohio State’s staff.

Re: Reports: Herman to UGAI live in Georgia, and this is my outsider view on the situation. Hermann would actually be a great choice for UGa, for one main reason, his offense. He has turned Greg Ward into a world beater. Georgia is full of qb's like Greg Ward, who could never see the field unless they converted to d back or receiver.
Nick Marshall, who originally played cornerback at UGA, quarterbacked Auburn in a national championship game. Richt recruited Cam Newton as a TE. In his mind there was no way that he could compete with Stafford or Aaron Murray. UGA has not been to the national championship game, yet these two Georgia qb's both played in that game. Georgia has the 4th best talent base in the nation. Every SEC school bases their recruiting on the Atlanta area with the exception of Texas A&M, and maybe Arkansas. Yet Richt had to go to Dallas to get Stafford or to Washington state to get Jacob Eason, his most recent qb recruit. I think he barely recruited Deshaun Watson, who played in Gainesville, about 30 minutes away from Athens. UGA defense will be ok. Smart is not much of an upgrade in my opinion.

Coach Tom Herman says he has ‘agreed in principle’ on contract with @UHCougarFB
Re: Reports: Herman to UGA
Herman was a coordinator like Smart but at least Herman has a year of head coaching experience and Smart has none. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Reports: Herman to UGA
Exactly. Georgia just fired a coach who consistently won 9 or 10 games every freaking year for 15 years. You're not going to fire Richt to turn the gig over to a coordinator, no matter how decorated he is. He could just be Saban's clipboard holder for all they know. ESPECIALLY after watching Muschamp turn Florida into a train wreck, which was fixed in one year with an experienced head coach. Re: Reports: Herman to UGAPer Herman at his weekly news conference, he has agreed in principle on a new contract with UH. Not finalized, but looking good.
Re: Reports: Herman to UGAHere's the ESPN article. That's pretty amazing if true for U of H. I've got a friend who went to Tech who isn't looking forward to their series coming up.

Re: Reports: Herman to UGAThe list of all-time great head coaching hires who were hired without Division 1A head coaching experience is lengthy and long. That is one of the most overblown generalizations ever. Think about the greatest head coaches in College History-it shouldn't take long to figure out that plenty of top coordinators have become great even when hired by powerhouses. Hell Mark Richt himself fits the profile of a coordinator hired directly by a national powerhouse
