He wants to coach. He is also a good coach. Someone should give him a shot. Like Tulane or Toledo.

Haden is very tight with the university president, so he has support at the highest level.

As much as I would have liked for them to hire Dantonio or Mullen, stealing a P5 HC is pretty difficult. If you look at the recent P5 hires, the vast majority went to non-P5 HC. Tennessee - G5 HC, Texas - G5 HC, Texas A&M - G5 HC, Washington - G5 HC, etc. USC hired a P5 HC last time around, however he had long ties to the school. Last year Oregon State and Nebraska both hired P5 coaches and in both cases, their old employer wasn't sad to see them leave. This year, Dykes may be a P5 HC to leave for another P5 HC and Cal won't be sad to see him go.

Unless he was conservative run happy coordinator on offense Nutt would not allow him to do his job. Nutt is pretty much just a rah rah coach.

Hiring a position coach with no coordinator experience in never a good idea. I thought maybe I was wrong when Tulane went to a bowl his first year there, but soon after they got bowl eligible they tanked for good.
