I hate to saw off your assumptions with a hard set of facts but.

Not a whole lot of P5 jobs that pay way more than some G5 gigs. Most P5 jobs for the most part are stepping stone jobs. HCCM will not be here that long if he starts winning and that will prove my point.

Morris will only leave for a premier Texas job and there are only 2 of them...Texas or A&M.

Sumlin keeps losing 4-5 games per year and it won't be long. If it happens in 2016 he's on the hot seat, repeat in 2017 and he's probably out......just in time to hand off to Morris. (If Morris squeaks into a bowl game in 17)[/quote]
Agree. Good news is that if Morris gets hired and has SMU contending for AAC, going to major bowls etc....will be able to attract very good coaching candidates to replace him.

There's never going to be a P6, and Frost will be coaching at Nebraska in a few years.

Unfortunately it'll be 6 or 7 wins, middle of the pack, minor bowl, then he's gone. Even at those levels he will be seen as a 'great' coach for reviving one of the worst programs in the country. The bar is very low, Morris was a smart guy.

Do you have contacts on ESPN and Fox that decide who is P5 and P6 tell you that there will never be a P6?

ESPN already decided when they helped break apart the Big East, you clearly weren't paying attention at the time.

The Big East only had 8 schools playing football and usually theu would only have 1 or 2 in the top 25 at end of year....some years a bad UConn team would win the big east and get drilled in a bcs game. The other basketball schools had a different goal in mind and that is why the big east dies....bad football, too many basketball schools, low ratings.

The American is a completely different case. 12 teams that play football and even the basketball schools Memphis, Temple and Uconn made it a point to invest in their football programs. Everyone is invested in competing in football at the highest level, unlike the Big East.

ESPN and the P5 aren't legitimizing another power conference. They took what they wanted from the Big East and kicked the remains down to the G5 for a reason. If the AAC ever has anything of value then they'll just take it.

Then if you were to be correct, SMU needs to make sure it is the value that gets picked up.
