Did everyone notice that the TCU announcer said that "SMU wouldn't schedule TCU last year?" I thought that was BS and that TCU wouldn't schedule us, but does anyone know the real story on why we didn't play last year?

Based upon a conversation I had earlier in the fall with a TCU friend of mine who is on the TCU board of trustees the announcers were correct. He was under the false impression that SMU didn't want to schedule TCU basketball anymore at all and was kind of pissed about that. I don't know why we didn't want to schedule them last year, but our AD assures me we intend to keep the basketball series going far into the future.

The conversation with your trustee buddy makes no sense. Why would we avoid playing them? I can see why they wouldn't want to play us, but no idea why we would not want to play them at Moody when we were at a historic high and they were at a historic low.

I recall a schedule issue on their end, and they didn't want to reschedule the date and thought it was a very good opportunity to skip coming to Moody.

As mentioned above, SOS may have been an issue as we were snubbed on the NCAA tournament the year before because of our SOS, but I don't really know if that was the reason. I think TCU BB is making a bit of a come back now.

And given that I don't trust jack that comes out of our AD, it wouldn't surprise me if it were the case.

I believe on the SMU radio broadcast (and something I've heard before), Rich mentioned that it's because last year was TCU's year to host, but since they were in the HS gym they wanted to postpone it until this year so the game would be in the new DMC...oops. No clue if there was any effort to get the game at Moody instead or if LB & Co. simply said they were fine with not playing them, but I think the issue last year was indeed the HS gym vs. DMC.

That lines up with my recollection... they were supposed to host, but DMC wasn't ready. We didn't want to play at the high school and they didn't want to play at Moody. Could be wrong though.

Whatever the reasons for last year, I hope this game stays on the schedule forever. So many reasons why this is a great game for both schools. And don't sleep on the Frogs. They are finally making some big investments in the Bball program. I could see them getting a lot better in the years to come.
