The Refs for the Michigan game

Postby PonyTime » Wed Dec 09, 2015 12:11 pm

Were these refs sent in a delorean from last year?

Seems that they called the game like under last year's rules and not like the first few games we saw this year. And I love it.

Bring those guys back and get rid of the new touch foul rules!

It was great. I remember looking up last night and being surprised how quickly the first half was going by and how little fouls were being called. Would have been even better if Markus was healthy

On TV the refs looked like they did a good job. TV being what it is, one never really knows.

Yeah it was nice to see a game with some flow for a change.

At first I thought we had brought the in from the Big 10...but these refs allowed the game to be played as it should be.

Yeah, I was talking with the Michigan people behind me about it. 7 total fouls in the first half is unheard of. It really helped us out with a short rotation.

In his post game presser Jank said he thought the game was well
officiated. After most games coaches don't usually make that comment.

Most of you seem to prefer the old rules that allow basketball to be played
like a wrestling match. I personally prefer to see a game of motion and skill
without the body slams.

Don't think this was a case of officials not calling fouls. Teams are just adjusting to the new rules.

It was cool to see the interaction between Sterling and one of the refs. Went on for several possessions. It started when the Sterling lost his cool and looked like he was about to get teed up by one of the refs. This ref stepped in and calmed the other ref down.

Nic had a long conversation with one of the refs when play was stopped as well in the second half.

Don't want them to play a wrestling match, but I also want them to be able to play a little bit of D. The pendulum had swung too far the other direction.

Two of the refs were calling a pretty good game, but Ted Valentine is the absolute worst.

It was nice not having to watch a free throw competition for once. That said, I don't think they really missed any "real" fouls
