New from scout.com
Scurry (Texas) Rosser wide receiver Phillip Burley falls into the category of the wide receiver of the new millenium, tall and rangy. He's got an impressive list of offers as well as a a top five.
"I am taking my official visit to Kansas this weekend," Burley said. "I am going to Arizona on January 13 and Missouri on January 20. I know that my other two official visits will be to SMU and Oklahoma State, but I just don't have a date set for them yet."
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Burley runs the 40-yard dash in 4.69 seconds and with his size some think he may even end up playing tight end on the next level.
"I have already had an in-home visit with Kansas last week. Missouri was supposed to do an in-home visit, but I had a basketball game so they ended up coming to that instead."
Burley caught 36 passes for 1,014 yards and 11 touchdowns in ten games as a senior.
"Playing time is a huge factor for me. I want to go somewhere where I can have a chance to go get in the program and get in the system and compete for playing time as a freshman. All of my top five are pretty even so it will pretty much come down to the visits."

OK then.
Early playing time... PB will play you if you are good enough.
SMU has great academics.
SMU is where you brother plays.
Parent could come to your games.... That's a plus.
Oh, the babes at SMU are awesome too.
And your initials are the same as the coach PB.
We got him now

At a 4.69, he is a tight end. Now, as ripped as his brother is, he could turn into a good one. And he probably has kept a lot of weight off because he plays basketball.
But at 4.69, he isn't going to get PT with any of the schools he mentioned, including SMU. He needs a redshirt to add weight.
After a redshirt, Kennedy would graduate so he would compete for PT at the second TE spot behind Chase.

Our major positions of need are LB and QB. But I think we have some flex even with the limited number of scholarships available to be able to take a couple of "atheletes" that project to different positions. "Best player available" type stuff.

That's true, and coaches often say DE/TE types are invaluable, because they often have the size, strength and athleticism to move to several positions, as needed.
