Re: SB Nation: SMU is thriving in spite of post-season ban
Got news, in a room full of LB, Turner and AD boy, LB carries the big stick. He's gonna say whatever he wants, whenever he wants to, which has actually been a criticism I've had for the guy. His NBA takes over the past several years, all while manning our helm, have been polarizing at best, moronic at worst. The day he was hired, he was tackling Michael Jordan in the media, and its basically never stopped. Whether he's poking the Sixers rebuild strategy or addressing advanced stats, he's not afraid. You do your best to stop the bleeding and make sure you don't bottom out. Thats what SMU has done and these aren't 'up for debate' topics. Katz is trying to capture eyes and ears w/a good story brewing. He's smart enough to realize 90% of his listeners/readers have no idea the junior and frosh class would have transferred out. He knows this, but that doesn't make for a good story does it? Unless,of course, you have an axe to grind and want to say we sold out the seniors. We didn't, the NCAA did. If they made their decision, when a viable transfer was possible, the seniors could have played in the postseason somewhere. Instead, they were stuck here and we had to preserve the integrity of the roster/program moving forward.
Re: SB Nation: SMU is thriving in spite of post-season ban
I don't think I have ever said that he wanted to appeal unless you are trying to twist my statements. If so please show me where I did. And yes, I think there are those that use scare tactics to try to sway the masses by using scenarios like we are going to lose 2/3 of the team and never get a recruit. But whatever, everyone has their own opinion. Last edited by Rebel10 on Fri Dec 11, 2015 11:07 am, edited 2 times in total.

Re: SB Nation: SMU is thriving in spite of post-season banSo regarding the current scenerio when LB comes back will he have the power to sign who he wants? Regarding "recruits with questionable risks"
Re: SB Nation: SMU is thriving in spite of post-season ban
So you think Sterling & Ben Moore specifically, stay if we sold their senior year down the river? You think Shake stays, where he can go as a back-up as a frosh, but not go when he's running the show and trying to get league looks? We have no soph class, unless Semi sits this year.
Re: SB Nation: SMU is thriving in spite of post-season ban
if it makes apr sense, he can sign whomever.
Re: SB Nation: SMU is thriving in spite of post-season ban
Please tell me what else anyone could infer from this: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=80184 Someone said he didn't want to appeal and you said that was the spin, which means you are stating he wanted to appeal. That's not me "twisting it", that's is exactly what you are implying.
Re: SB Nation: SMU is thriving in spite of post-season ban
Can you give me an example of a team that got put on probation in time for most of the team to transfer where most of the team transferred? #HammerDown
Re: SB Nation: SMU is thriving in spite of post-season banRebel10 many of us know from first hand experience that probation sanctions are kryptonite to recruiting-seen it about 6-7 times in football and basketball here at SMU.

Re: SB Nation: SMU is thriving in spite of post-season banI agree with Katz on this one.
UConn got hit with sanction early enough for everyone to transfer but no one did. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/21/sport ... .html?_r=0 Last edited by Rebel10 on Fri Dec 11, 2015 11:27 am, edited 2 times in total.

Re: SB Nation: SMU is thriving in spite of post-season banI am starting to think that mustangxc was right to say that rebel was lying about Wilson saying he would have come here even if we had a postseason ban next year. I really hope rebel will post the link to when Wilson said that to defend himself, but as time passes I am getting concerned.
