He was heavily recruited out of high school by Herman so I think Houston has an in

We are nowhere near fine at QB.
Davis is "one read and done". His play was mediocre at best.
Everyone behind him hasn't taken a meaningful snap at the D1A level.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Knight would make a good backup quarterback if you need one.

I hope SMU gets several transfer players each year. We have won 3 games in the past 2 years. We need lots of help. I know in the past that SMU has been very selective on the credit hours it will allow from other universities which has prevented lots of players from considering SMU as a transfer school.

Relative to the OL and pretty much any spot on defense, we are loaded at QB. Four deep, we have an average starter, a backup who isn't atrocious, and Hicks & Moore are the future. #priorities - On defense (2 deep), we need to fill 3-4 DL, 4 LBs, and 10 DB spots with AAC caliber players. Although some new talent is coming, the unit's play must improve at every position for us to become winners. - On offense, we have maybe 2 OL on our 2-deep returning who are experienced, AAC average OL. Every other player (including every backup) needs to prove they aren't AAC horrible.

As ridiculous as Trevor Knight has been at OU he would walk in here and be the starter the moment he took the practice field. I like the potential of Colbert/Hicks/Moore but Davis is a caretaker at best.

Even if you are right, so what if he is better than Davis? A slightly (or even much) better QB won't make a difference in 2016 if the defense is giving up 45 points per game. We only have 25 scholarships (+ a couple more for early arrivals) to give. Most of those are already spoken for. Let's pretend we have 1 last scholarship to give to a transfer. Priority 1 = defense, Priority 1A = offensive line help. In terms of priorities, Morris would kill for an experienced, good LB or DB. A better QB would be a "nice to have."

Trust me we will have plenty of room to add transfers after spring ball and the inevitable attrition that will occur after that.

Knight sucks, he had one great (fluke) game his entire career.
Give Moore/Colbert/Hicks the reps.

You do not seem to understand that there is a limit to the number of scholarships a school can give out in a single year -> 25. While there will be attrition, we don't need it to clear out scholarships. We already have around 30 spots opening up.

Yes. We will try to fit a few in early against the scholarships already open and may ask a guy or two to grayshirt. But, at the margins, a QB like Knight would be like adding gold rims to a car without a working motor. Right now, our least sucky positions are WR, RB, and QB. Thus, it is not shocking to see that approx 18* of 24 commits are at other positions: DB, DL, & OL. * note: at this point, we don't know who will be changing positions.
