My guess is the phone call for the package deal has already been made to the 768 prefix and I hope they were told not only no but hell no. If Barefield's mom is a helicopter mom, Wes is a giant drone hovering within 2 inches..........

The quotes from his dad are unreal. Talk about helicopter dad...yes, if a player gives up baseline as bad as Austin did agaisnt Uconn, he should be taken out.

"He's a scorer. He's a shooter. It's hard to play like that when you never know if you miss what's going to happen. It's a tough thing," Wes Grandstaff said. "We just didn't see next year getting any better. When you have guys playing 30-something minutes, there's not a lot of minutes to go around."

"We'll be smarter in our decision," Wes Grandstaff said. "I didn't watch Ohio State play enough before we committed. If I knew that Loving and Bates-Diop were gonna be the two and three, we probably wouldn't have went there. Do I think Austin can score the ball like they can? Absolutely."

Wow...Austin's dad sounds delusional. Kinda crazy with the 'we' stuff when talking about his son's decision.

Any time a parent or other member of an athletes entourage uses the term "we" is a big red flag. This kid should got to a small mid major school where they might be ok with him jacking up 20 shots a game since that is clearly what he wants.

I saw the kid put up 50 + more than once. He is a pure scorer & the real deal. I just think back to E. Thomas comment about putting Grandstaff (the dad) in charge of helping him make his choice. No coincidence their announcements are coming @ the same time. Gotta be a package deal IMO, look for Oklahoma State & TCU to come up in the conversation.

This also usually doesn't help.....

"Distance from home, and the fact that Austin had a son born just before the season began also played into the decision, Wes said."

Pretty sure that McQuaid will be sticking around at Michigan State and won't be announcing a transfer. He's averaged a few points a game so far this year - played some real teams like Louisville, Florida, and Providence. Maybe 15 points/game?

First thing I noticed too. They should ring up Memphis.

He could coach.

Nice that his dad says he doesn't play defense, block shots, or rebound. Sounds like a perfect fit for a LB team.

This is one recruiting battle it sounds like some on this board would not mind losing.

Ohio State transfer Austin Grandstaff told ESPN that Butler, St. John's, Oregon, Tennessee, Nebraska, SMU, others have already reached out.
