The three point play thing is tired as can be and has mercifully stopped.

Totally agree.

gostangs wrote:our guy is perfect. Absolutely does not need to be tweaked.

Absolutely right.

DiamondM wrote:PA guy is good, but I wish we could get him to do the thing Bill Melton used to do on a three:

"Shake Milton has just scored ... A. THREE. POINT. PLAY."

The crowd can join in and yell it with him (the band still does it anyway after every made 3, regardless of the formulation the PA guys uses) if anyone wants to join in.

For the love of Erick Longino ... no. That was repetitive and tired by about halftime of the second game of the year. That was Melton's schtick, but he left SMU years ago, and thankfully took that with him.

With good reason. Like the rest of the NBA announcers, he's awful.
Our guy is really good.

That was tired the very first time he did it...

And can't you be cooler than "XXX for a three point field goal?" Like maybe "KEEEETH for a three" or "Ben for the deuce". We know its a field goal for gosh sakes.

Nope, I'm not a huge fan. Too proper. Too stiff. Too "my parents" PA guy.

Okay. I was being nice. I agree with this.

I don't want over the top or anything, but no need to give the entire name and number of our own players. And when he says "field goal," my 8 year old always says "this is not football."

So do you object to calculating the field goal percentage (FG%)? It's a field goal.

I'm 27 and agree with the majority sentiment here. He's the perfect balance - hype when it's necessary but not overbearing. He has sort of a WWE announcers voice but keeps most of his comments trite/short so it's not annoying.

My only comment would be that I'd like to see him bring a bit more hype during the player introductions.

That would come naturally if the video wasn't such a buzzkill. :)

I'm a student and I think he's great. He's good at matching the energy when Moody starts getting wild.
