SMU ESPN 3 Announcers

Postby stl.pony » Sat Dec 19, 2015 3:22 pm

Love these guys. I'm at most of the home games, but any idea who they are? Any time I do watch a bit of the game, the color guy cracks me up.

"Does everyone get a Taco if SMU scores 100? No they don't, so slow it down a little Ben Moore".

Up 50 with five minutes to go against Nicholls State ... "You have to forget about the score".

After Sed's layup got stuffed after his ridiculous move ... "This is a young man who has probably been watching a little too much Steph Curry"

That is SMU great Ira Terrell. He was a much better player than play by play man.

I love Ira. He was a great player and it is hilarious to hear him talk about his single game rebound record (26) toward the middle of the second half of every game. Claims it is being threatened by Tolbert (which it is) and then sighs relief multiple times when Tolbert falls 2 or 3 rebounds short.

On the record ... "It's been 33 years. I'm ready for the record to be broken"

I remember one game when dunking was illegal and IT slammed one home toward the end of the game (against tcu I think). Crowd went crazy.

I have been really impressed with Ira's loose color analysis, he is easy to listen too IMO without him talking down to the viewer. Has he had much experience? Because I don't remember him doing games before recently.

Yeah, I dunno about his experience, but it's very pleasant and enjoyable. Too many commentators use a lot of words to say nothing (see every nfl sideline reporter tomorrow) ... Ira, keep doing what you're doing.

Thinking about making an Ira Terrell rebounding trophy, so he can officially pass it on to Tolbert when he gets the record.

I don't remember Ira doing TV games prior to this year, but I do remember him doing
several radio broadcasts over the past 5 or so years. It is always interesting to get
his perspective on the Mustangs and I really enjoy his positive comments.

He is very approachable and loves to talk SMU hoops.

Yeah love it. Then he makes sure he says he did it twice.

IT is one great dude and is SMU to the core. Wish all our fans were as dedicated as he is.
